Casey Anthony attorney, Cheny Mason, to write behind-the-scenes book - Rushed to the hospital on 11/11/11
Defense attorney Cheney Mason, who represented Casey Anthony in her first-degree murder trial this summer, announced Thursday that he is penning a book to expose what went on behind the scenes of the controversial trial.
Mason made the announcement as he left an Orange County Bar Association meeting, which was attended by several of the major players in the trial.
Mason said the book is nearly done, and he expects it to be released by the end of the year. He promised it will contain never-before-heard details about the case, including information he said people who covered the case for three years do not even know.
Anthony, 25, was found not guilty of murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee, who disappeared in June 2008. Her remains were found five months later in a wooded area in east Orange County.
Mason famously celebrated the verdict at the bar of a restaurant near the Orange County Courthouse where the defense team had frequently dined during the trial. Mason was photographed celebrating, drinking, and flipping off a photographer.
The book will not only touch on Anthony's acquittal and the legal maneuvers it took to win that verdict, but the veteran defense attorney also promised to share some behind-the-scenes information about Anthony's other lawyers, including those who walked away before the case went to trial.
Prosecutor Jeff Ashton is also writing a book about his experience with the case. That book is due out next month. He also spoke at the Florida Bar meeting about the Anthony case.
Ashton and Mason argued at the meeting over Florida's public records laws, which require that evidence given to the defense by the state becomes public record, regardless of if it will be used at trial. The pair did agree that information released prematurely can jeopardize a defendant's right to a fair trial.
Anthony is currently serving one year of probation on an unrelated check fraud conviction.

Cheney Mason rushed to the hospital
2:26 PM, Nov 11, 2011
Prominent Orlando defense attorney Cheney Mason, who was a part of Casey Anthony's defense team, was taken to a hospital in an ambulance after becoming ill prior to a speaking engagement.
Mason, who was scheduled to speak at Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, became sick shortly after getting out of a car.
Mason was taken to a hospital to be evaluated. His condition is not known.
Investigative reporter Tony Pipitone, from our partner at Local 6 in Orlando, who is speaking at the same event, said Mason was alert and talkative as he was being assisted.
