I keep thinking that if she admitted what happened to Gabriel it might get her more jail time that what she's going to get for the kidnapping.

I think she's more concerned about not letting Logan have the baby than she is about her own freedom. She's demonstrated how manipulative and vindictive she can be. In her mind, as long as she's hurting Logan, she has control. It's domestic violence. Perpetrators of DV are so focused on hurting their victim that the lose all sight of the consequences of their actions and don't care much about the consequences because in their warped mind, they think they are justified. I think if she had really killed Gabriel, she'd continue to rub that in Logan's face. JMO.

Strangely, I don't think it's much more than the fact that he left her. I suppose for someone that has grown up the way she did, to leave her (even if she said "get out") would be pretty ultimate in hurting her. What I still don't understand is why Logan left baby Gabriel with her when he left. With all the things he's said about her in regards to Gabriel, why did he leave him with her? I agree with all of your thoughts, jeanne, Wrap, Withpurpose, Bj, Critter, mommy, et al on this page. Can we all be wrong if we are all surmising basically the same things? I have posted before that I have wondered what exactly EJ's side of it is in regard to the relationship to Logan, we are only hearing one side of this and that is Logan's side. There are always 2 sides to every story. I have wondered, like you, if she was as violent and neglectful as he keeps saying of her, then why would he abandon the child to her keeping? He only brings up these things when he later tries to get custody as charges against her. If she was that unstable and dangerous to the baby, why didn't he take the baby with him when he left? I agree with you on this, Logan's actions are not all that clear and above reproach.

And why has she come to hate him so and want to hurt his feelings? Because he left her, alone with a baby to take care of? Was he supporting them financially during that time? Or did he just fly the coop and take up with somebody else? Yes, mood swings are hard to live with, especially when people damage property when they are angry, it is hard to take, but why did he not consider staying on for the baby's sake until he could resolve the issues of her behaviors? And he is not squeaky clean himself---I would bet that he had a longer rap sheet than she had before she tried to adopt Gabriel out and found herself in jail in the present. Nothing has come forward in regard to EJ hurting anyone or causing anyone else any suffering---contrast that with Logan's history of being a burglar and thief.
I think EJ has probably told all she knows to LE. She has given a description of the couple she gave Gabriel to. She has probably told more than what has been released to the news media. And yes, my intuition has told me too from the first week of this story, that he has been in Mexico. (I point out again, however, that I am not psychic.)

TR, I agree that there are two sides to every story. I have heard that a lot of people accuse each other of awful things in a child custody case. There is no telling what he may have accused her of while in court for custody. Revenge I think is what made her send the text to him saying that Gabriel was dead. Not a very good article. I think it's trying to say that the request was first denied because she was not present in court. Then, it appears to me that it was again denied this morning, but doesn't explain why. I don't think Maricopa County Detention tried too hard to get her there. There's so much tension between the sheriff's office, the detention office and the courts that we see more stupid stuff like this going on. It's ridiculous. Will see if I can find anything that provides better clarification.

Didn't the judge order the detention office to get her to court for the next hearing by whatever means of force necessary? PHOENIX -- The newest private investigator to handle the baby Gabriel case tells CBS 5 News several witnesses told him the baby's mom had a male companion starting the first night she was in San Antonio.

Ken Gamble, of Gamble Investigations Inc., was in the audience during a hearing Wednesday morning in Phoenix, when a judge denied a request from the mother of missing baby Gabriel Johnson for a new lawyer.

Johnson, 23, asked for new representation because she said her current attorneys were ignoring her request to ask the judge to reconsider letting her out of jail, according to Judge Timothy Ryan.

Johnson also told the judge she felt her lawyers were pressuring her, but Ryan said it was for her own good.

"The reality is they have a case involving baby Gabriel, and the police want to know where baby Gabriel is located," Ryan told her. I would say there is equal evidence to support either possiblility....her conversations with the smiths and what she told the police might support her giving him away in an underground adoption, but her text message and actions before and after his disappearance might support her murdering him and putting him in the trash. Just because they have not found him does not, in my mind, rule out anything.

PHOENIX -- The father of missing baby Gabriel Johnson was a guest on a local radio station's morning show Friday to discuss his efforts to raise funds to aid in the search for his son.

Logan McQueary was interviewed on KWSS' Morning Infidelity show while at an event to raise money to help find his son, who was last seen Dec. 26, 2009, with the boy's mother, Elizabeth Johnson, in San Antonio, Texas.

Johnson now sits in a Maricopa County jail on charges of kidnapping and custodial interference relating to Gabriel's disappearance.

As part of the fundraiser, which was held at a T-Mobile store in Scottsdale, McQueary was auctioning off a signed football and raffling "Team Gabriel" T-shirts signed by Alice Cooper.

"Most of the money's been going towards helping find Gabriel," McQueary said at the event. "The unfortunate thing is that everything does cost money, and looking into people and doing background checks … costs a lot of money."

McQueary also said that he's hopeful his son will be found.

"We have a lot of confidence in everything that we're doing, and we're getting a lot closer to finding him," he said.

He also said he plans to move to San Antonio on March 28 to continue the search for his son. McQueary said he's already found a job and a place to live.

"That's where everything started," he said. "And that's the last place he was seen, so I just think I need to be there."

McQueary also said that he's appreciative of the outpouring of support he's received.

"It's been amazing how many people are coming out and how much people are giving their support," he said. "I just want to thank everybody for doing it."

PHOENIX -- The father of missing baby Gabriel Johnson held a news conference Tuesday to refute allegations that he is not the boy's father.

Gabriel was last seen in San Antonio, Texas, on the day after Christmas with his mother, Elizabeth Johnson. Johnson was later arrested in Florida and extradited to Arizona, where she sits in a Maricopa County Jail on charges of kidnapping and custodial interference relating to her son's disappearance.

The paternity allegations recently surfaced on a blog. Nevertheless, Gabriel's father, Logan McQueary, and his attorneys said they have all they need to prove McQueary is the boy's father.

McQueary even offered a baby photo of himself, saying the similarities between his appearance at that age and Gabriel's are even more proof he's the father.

McQueary, who is moving to Texas, and his attorneys said they regretted they had to take time out of the search for Gabriel.

This isn't the first time Gabriel's paternity has been called into doubt.

When Johnson and Tammi Smith, who wanted to adopt Gabriel, went to the courthouse to file custody paperwork, Johnson listed Craig Cherry as a potential father of her baby.

Cherry, who is Smith's first cousin, told police that he had never met or spoken with Johnson.

Police said they have evidence that Smith filled out the paperwork, knowing Cherry could not be the father, put his name down anyway.

Smith was later arrested on charges of forgery and conspiracy to commit custodial interference.

Mesa restaurant Toby Keith's Bar and Grill, along with organization Jessica's Law Now, will hold its own fundraiser April 10.

The function will feature a live auction and concert featuring Nick Nicholson, a country musician.

All proceeds will go to help McQueary pay for his search.

I don't know why he's even responding to these allegations. If this would have been a possibility whatsoever, EJ would have been throwing it in his face. I don't see anyone coming forward saying..."I think Gabriel is my baby, not McQueary's." Besides, Logan has been raising Gabriel as his. Locum parentis would apply even IF Logan wasn't the bio dad. Don't waste your time and energy responding to this crap Logan!

I don't understand a Mom not wanting her baby. I don't understand why a unmarried man don't get a DNA test when they are a possible Father to a baby. Anyone know if there was one done when Gabriel was born? Getting a DNA test is the most important legal way to establish paternity.

I don't think he was ever tested. Probably no need since Logan admitted paternity and was named by EJ. There was no issue with it until Gabriel was 8 months old.

Hi There! New to the site, but I've been folloiwng the case since day 1. It makes me sick that this poor little guy is lost and there are people out there that love him. So many kids have parent's who don't want them and aren't loved and they're STUCK with these horrible people!

Anyway - Isn't it the case that even if he's not biologically the father... since his name is on Gabriel's birth certificate... he's legally the father? Does it matter if his DNA matches or not? Why is he even addressing these rumors?

Baby Gabriel's mother due back in court today

PHOENIX -- The mother of Baby Gabriel, the Tempe baby who's been missing for three months now, is due back in court this morning.

The last time she was in court, Elizabeth Johnson, 23, asked the judge to fire her court-appointed attorney. The judge denied that request.

Johnson faces a variety of charges including child abuse and kidnapping.

Gabriel was 8 months old when he was last seen in late December in San Antonio, and police don't know whether he's alive. A search of a San Antonio landfill was completed earlier this month, but uncovered no clues as to what happened to the baby.

Johnson, who has not cooperated with police in the investigation, has told stories, saying first the she killed Gabriel. She later that she gave him to a San Antonio couple.

Police say Johnson drove the boy to San Antonio from Tempe, stayed about a week, then took a bus to Florida without him. She was arrested Dec. 30 in Florida and was extradited to Arizona.

Johnson has a history of refusing to leave her cell for scheduled court appearances. Today's procedure is an evidentiary hearing.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about Gabriel Johnson is asked to call 1-800-THE-LOST.
