Whatever is this sheriff talking cold case after just one month. And they have nothing?
Somebody is pretty smart..somebody evil.
This from the Oregon Live today.
The Oregonian front page for July 3, 2010.
Mystery surrounds the June 4th disappearance of Kyron Horman. The boy seems to have vanished without a trace. But in an interview with Oregonian staffers Helen Jung and Kate Mather, the Multnomah County sheriff has offered some new information about the investigation itself.
The massive search, for instance, hasn't yielded a single clue about what happened to the boy. The sheriff, Dan Staton, has dedicated all but one of the agency's detectives to the case. The investigation so far has cost taxpayers $300,000, prompting cuts in other areas of the agency.
"Ultimately, if we are unable to find Kyron, this could turn into a cold case,” Staton acknowledged. “At some point I’m going to have to make a final decision that this has got to move in a different direction. But right now the way I’ve got it set up, and the way I’ve been working with investigators and the FBI, the other agencies, we will downscale appropriately based on their availability (and) the funding sources.”
“I don’t put a dollar figure on a child... and I won’t do that,” Staton said. “I will employ whatever it is that I have available to me to try to locate a child or someone that is vulnerable.”

Sheriff Says Missing Oregon Boy's Stepmother, Terri Moulton Horman, Is Cooperative
Published July 03, 2010 | Associated Press
PORTLAND, Ore. -- Authorities believe a missing 7-year-old Oregon boy is still alive, and said the search for him is progressing faster than most searches of its kind.
Multnomah County Sheriff Dan Staton said Friday that the investigation has been "scaled down" since it began on June 4, but 20 investigators are still working to find Kyron Horman.
"We have no evidence that indicates that anything other than the fact that Kyron (Horman) is still alive and we are going to continue the investigation under that premise," Staton said.
Staton also disputed the notion that Kyron's stepmother, Terri Moulton Horman, has been uncooperative with investigators. On Thursday, Kyron's biological mother, Desiree Young, pleaded with Horman to cooperate with the investigators.
"We implore (stepmother) Terri Horman to fully cooperate with the investigators to bring Kyron home," Young said at a news conference at which Horman wasn't present.
Staton said he believes Terri Horman is working with investigators.
"To date there has been no indication that she has been uncooperative," Staton said. "She has been cooperative throughout this entire process."
Horman is the last person known to have seen 7-year-old Kyron Horman before he vanished on June 4. Investigators have not named her as a suspect or a person of interest in Kyron's disappearance.
Kyron's biological father, Kaine Horman, filed for divorce from Terri Horman on Monday, citing "irreconcilable differences," and a judge granted his request barring Terri Horman from contact with her children and access to firearms.
Staton said the search has cost Multnomah County about $300,000. He declined to go into detail about the investigation, but reiterated statements from his office that Kyron's disappearance is an isolated incident.
"If I believed or our detectives or district attorney's office believed that (the incident weren't isolated), I would be the first one screaming at the top of our lungs," Staton said. "To date, I don't believe that threat does exist."
Kyron disappeared after a science fair at Skyline Elementary School, which did not have an automatic notification system at the time. Terri Horman, who has raised Kyron since he was an infant, contacted the school when the boy didn't come home on his school bus on June 4. The sheriff's office declared the case a criminal investigation on June 14.
Terri Moulton Horman has hired prominent Portland defense attorney Stephen Houze. Staton said that her hiring of a lawyer puts a layer between her and investigators.
"What that does is, I cannot just come up now and directly talk to you," Staton said. "You have hired somebody that directly represents your interests. It's no longer just you and I in the course of a conversation."

Kyron Horman Missing Case Latest News Updates - A Murder for Hire Plot
The Kyron Horman missing child case updates grow thicker, as the latest news just in suggests a murder for hire plot. Kyron Horman's stepmother Terri Moulton Horman allegedly offered a landscaper a large sum of money to kill Kyron's father, Kaine. This is breaking news in the case.
Authorities shared the information with Kaine Horman recently, which is presumably why he filed for divorce and was able to secure a restraining order on his wife, take his daughter, and get it where Terri can't even have a firearm.
All this makes the case take a strange turn - but the main question still remains - where is Kyron? Kyron is STILL missing and there's no sign of him.

Murder for Hire
A landscaper who worked for Kyron Horman's family at their rural Northwest Portland home told authorities that the missing boy's stepmom offered to pay him to kill her husband.
The landscaper told authorities that Terri Moulton Horman approached him with the murder-for-hire plot six to seven months before Kyron disappeared, The Oregonian has learned.
She reportedly offered the landscaper, who advertises his expertise in lawn care, a large sum of money to carry out the scheme, sources say.
Detectives with the Multnomah County Major Crimes Team shared the landscaper's account with Kyron's father, Kaine Horman, last weekend, prompting him to leave the house June 26 with the couple's 19-month-old daughter.
Within two days, he obtained a family law attorney and filed divorce papers and a petition for a restraining order under the Family Abuse Prevention Act.
Investigators also recorded a conversation June 26 among the cooperating landscaper, Terri Horman and an undercover law enforcement officer, but Horman shut down the conversation fairly quickly, sources said.
Detectives later confronted Terri Horman directly with the murder-for-hire allegation, which she denied, sources say. She has not been charged with a crime, as a criminal investigation proceeds.
Terri Horman retained prominent criminal defense lawyer Stephen Houze on Wednesday. Repeated attempts to reach Houze, who was on the East Coast, were unsuccessful. A woman who answered the door at Terri Horman's house Saturday referred questions to her attorney.
Laura Rackner, Kaine Horman's attorney, declined to comment Saturday night other than to say: "I just want to do whatever is going to help law enforcement right now."
After Kyron disappeared June 4, investigators with the county's Major Crimes Team tracked down the landscaper in the course of trying to interview everyone who had contact with the boy's family. They also found it odd that Terri Horman had hired a landscaper without her husband's knowledge.
The landscaper, contacted by The Oregonian last week, confirmed that he was hired to do lawn work at the Horman home off Northwest Sheltered Nook Road. He said he's talked with detectives and could not comment further. His name is being withheld to protect his identity as a cooperating witness in an ongoing criminal investigation.
Detectives last weekend also shared the information they developed about the alleged murder-for-hire scheme with Kyron's mother and stepdad, Desiree and Tony Young -- providing a clearer indication of why the two banded together with Kaine Horman and the three suddenly and publicly distanced themselves from Terri Horman.
On Thursday, Desiree Young, with Kyron's dad and her husband standing behind her, made an emotional plea to Terri Horman before television cameras -- the family's first public statements directed at Kyron's stepmom since the boy disappeared a month ago.
"We implore Terri Horman to fully cooperate with investigators to bring Kyron home," a shaken Young told the media.
Investigators said Terri Horman was the last known person to see Kyron, when she told authorities she left him about 8:45 a.m. June 4 at Skyline School. She snapped a photo of the second-grader wearing a "CSI" T-shirt and beaming a smile beside his science fair exhibit earlier and posted it that day on her Facebook page. She and her husband waited for Kyron at the school bus stop not far from their home that afternoon, and when he didn't get off the bus, they went to the school. The school hadn't contacted the family when Kyron didn't return to his classroom after the science fair.
A large-scale search ensued, with law enforcement and search-and-rescue agencies from across the state, California and Washington combing the expansive hills around Kyron's home and school for days.
Though the sheriff's office has consistently declined to say whether Terri Horman is a suspect or even a person of interest in the case, investigators have intently focused on her the past several weeks.
She was grilled for hours through two polygraph exams, friends and family said. Sources said there were indications of deception during her first polygraph and gaps in the timeline she gave investigators the day Kyron disappeared. Authorities released a flier and questionnaire June 18 featuring photos of Terri Horman and a white truck similar to the one she was driving when she took Kyron to school, asking whether anyone had seen either on June 4.
Last weekend, at 5:17 p.m. June 26, Terri Horman placed a 9-1-1 call, classified as a "threats" call, to Multnomah County dispatchers, and a sheriff's deputy responded. By 11:39 p.m., when her husband and her 19-month-old daughter hadn't returned home, Terri Horman placed another 9-1-1 call, one classified by dispatchers as a "custody" matter. Kaine Horman wasn't at the home when either call was placed, sources said. The sheriff's office has declined to allow the release of the 9-1-1 tapes.
Two nights later, about 6 p.m. Monday, Terri Horman was served the restraining order and divorce papers at her home. About 45 minutes earlier, she had denied to an Oregonian reporter who came to her door that her husband had moved out. She gave a thumbs up, saying, "Everything's good."
A judge grants a restraining order if the petitioner can show that the petitioner or child is in "imminent danger of further abuse" by the respondent, and the respondent represents a "credible threat to the physical safety of petitioner or petitioner's child."

Well, it seems plain to me now that she could have hired someone to kill or take Kyron someplace else. She was known to be at the school a lot and participated in parental activities. Maybe she got friendly with a janitor or other school member. I am probably talking crazy here but this story is like a mystery novel.
Why would she want her husband dead? If she wanted him dead, it only makes sense she wants his son dead, too. Holy Smokes!

Kyron Horman case: Sheriff says 'no comment' on Oregonian's murder-for-hire story
The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office issued a statement this morning about The Oregonian report of a landscaper who told detectives that Terri Moulton Horman, the stepmother of missing 7-year-old Kyron Horman, offered him money to kill her husband.
The agency's response to the front-page newspaper story, however, was a non-response that appeared targeted at other media outlets.
"There will be no comment from the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office regarding the information reported in the July 4, 2010 Oregonian," Lt. Mary Lindstrand, a sheriff's spokeswoman, wrote in the statement.
"The information released in the Oregonian article did NOT come from the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office. This is an ongoing investigation. There is no press conference scheduled for today or tomorrow."
This morning, The Oregonian revealed that a landscaper who worked for Kyron Horman's family at their rural Northwest Portland home told authorities that Terri Moulton Horman approached him with the murder-for-hire plot six to seven months before Kyron disappeared on June 4.
She reportedly offered the landscaper a large sum of money. After learning of the alleged plot from investigators, Kyron's father, Kaine Horman, left the home with the couple's 19-month-old daughter and filed for a divorce and a restraining order, The Oregonian's Maxine Bernstein reported.
Lindstrom once again asked anyone with tips or information about Kyron's disappearance to call the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office tip line at 503 261-2847. For actual sightings of Kyron, call 9-1-1, she said.

Oh, wow, this is unbelievable! Stranger and stranger this gets! If she could do something like this, there is no doubt that she is capable of getting rid of Kyron...I bet this all stems from the trouble with her older son...She was trying to get rid of Kaine when he was "butting heads" with James, who ended up moving out, or getting kicked out, in March...Then she turned her attention to getting rid of Kyron because she lost HER son..May be all wild speculation, but I can really see this scenario, especially with an unstable person in the mix...

"if she did it once, there's a chance she did it other times and we're investigating that possibility."
Kaine Horman, whose seven-year-old son Kyron has been missing for more than four weeks, was told by investigators that his wife Terri had offered a landscaper "a lot of money" to kill him, according to more than one source.
He was also told "if she did it once, there's a chance she did it other times and we're investigating that possibility."
According to sources, Terri Horman had described being in a bad marriage and had claimed that Kaine had "hurt" her by having an extra-marital relationship.
The landscaper - whom Terri had hired to do work last November without Kaine's knowledge - came forward to investigators as they reached out to everyone that they could find who had had contact with the family. While he said he had no intention of carrying out the plot, he did believe that he would be getting something from Terri.
"She led him on," sources said.
On June 26th, the landscaper, who is cooperating with authorities and was wearing a wire, met with Terri and an undercover officer but Terri - perhaps suspecting something was up - cut the conversation short.
Later that day, Kaine was told that she had plotted against him and took their 19-month-old daughter and moved out.
Police records show that Terri made two calls to 911 that night. The first time, at 5:17PM, was recorded as being related to "threats" and the second time, at 11:39PM, which was recorded as a "custody" issue and was made after it was clear to her that Kaine and their daughter were not returning.
Two days later, Kaine filed for divorce and obtained a restraining order prohibiting Terri from having any contact with him or their daughter.
Terri, meanwhile, has hired renowned defense attorney Stephen Houze whom she contacted on the recommendation of friends and family who had researched the issue.
This all comes as the investigation seems to have increasingly focused on Terri even though. officially, law enforcement has declined to label her a "suspect" or even "a person of interest."
A reliable source has told KGW News that investigators believe that Terri has lied to investigators and that there have been several instances where they have wanted to know more about her whereabouts the day her son disappeared, including:
* after cell phone records seemed to indicate that she may not have been where she said on that day;
* after her performance during several hours of polygraphs which, the source said, indicated that she was being "evasive"; and
* after examining files from her computer.
Investigators have also examined Terri's cell phone and email records, determining whom she had had contact with in the days leading up to her son's disappearance.

Sources speaking to blinkoncrime on the condition of anonymity, have confirmed that the landscaper, whose identity is being withheld as he is a material witness in the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Kyron Horman, met Terri Horman on the grounds of Skyline School.
Skyline Schools Garden and Habitat Project kicked off Last August, and it was not unusual to see white landscaper trucks in the parking lot, although it is not known if the landscaper witness is involved in the project.
The project, funded by a grant from West Multnomah Soil &Water Conservation District, is one of many funded in part by WMSWCD. Recently, on Sauvie Island, the focus of the intensive search efforts, the “Healthy Streams” initiative kicked off.
The objective on Sauvie Island agricultural land is to reduce invasive plant species and tillage directly adjacent to waterways, which may contribute to erosion and sedimentation. WMSWCD will pay to install and maintain non-invasive herbaceous buffers, or woody plants if consistent with canal maintenance needs. These should be easier for farmers to maintain, better protect livestock drinking water, irrigation and drainage canals, and offer pollinator habitat.

Boy this doesn't look too good for Terri and even worse for little Kyron.
Why is it I keep getting disappointed by these women?
Casey Anthony and now Terri Horman.
Don't mothers...mother anymore. I life so cheap that when you tire out you just hire somebody to kill a person.
What kind of a world am I living in?

Happy Fourth everyone!
I wonder if any landscapers vans were parked at the school the day Kyron went missing - that would have
been a good way to get him away. I just cant figure out, if not Terri, how someone could have physically got him out of the school without anyone seeing.

Re: Thread #1 - Kyron Horman: Missing for 9 Months/ Desiree believes Kyron is dead/ Supporters put pressure on Terri
One month after the disappearance of 7-year-old Kyron Horman, police reportedly said a landscaper told them the Oregon boy's stepmother tried to hire him to kill her husband, Kaine Horman.
After a month with no trace of Kyron the family still hopes for his safe return.
The allegation, first reported in The Oregonian but confirmed by ABC News affiliate KATU-TV in Portland through a source close to the investigation, thickens the cloud of suspicion surrounding Terri Horman, the last person to see Kyron before he went missing on June 4.
Sources close to the investigation told the newspaper that police alerted Kaine Horman to the allegation on June 26, which they said is what prompted him to move out of the family home with his 19-month-old daughter and to file for divorce and a restraining order against his wife.
Two 911 calls were placed from the home of Kaine and Terri Horman that day. The first call was made in the evening lasted 13 minutes, the caller reporting threats of some kind. The second came in just after 11:30 p.m. and was written up only as a "child custody call."
The landscaper allegedly told police that Terri Horman approached him about killing her husband six or seven months before Kyron disappeared, the sources said.
Terri Horman denied the allegation when confronted by detectives, the newspaper reported, and she has not been charged, though the investigation is proceeding, the sources told The Oregonian.
Terri Horman hired prominent Portland criminal defense lawyer Stephen Houze early last week and was seen in his company as she returned home Wednesday night.
Kyron has been missing since June 4, but police say they have no reason not to believe he is still alive.
Multnomah County Sheriff Dan Staton said the investigation is not stalled, and they are still making progress.
Kyron Horman, a 7-year-old Portland, Ore., boy disappeared Friday, June 4, 2010, at Skyline Elementary School, shortly after leaving an early morning science fair, where he presented his project on tree frogs.
"We have the potential to still bring him home," he said.
But it's an investigation that has so far failed to answer a heartbreaking question: What happened to Kyron Horman?
Terri Horman said she last saw him walking to his classroom after the two of them had attended a pre-school science fair together.
The school said he never made it to class, but he was not reported missing until the end of the day, when he did not get off the school bus that was supposed to bring him home.
Kyron's disappearance triggered the biggest search in Oregon history.
A week after Kyron vanished his family appeared together for the first time.
Kyron's stepfather, Tony Young, said, "Kyron, we miss you and love you and need you home."
It soon became a criminal case. On June 18, a police questionnaire asked if anyone saw Terri Horman the day he disappeared. She eventually took two lie detector tests, but police do not call her a suspect.
"We are not in a position to talk about suspects," Multnomah County Sheriff's Office Capt. Jason Gates said.
Kyron's biological mother, Desiree Horman, has insisted that her son "is still alive," but she also implied that Terri Horman knows more than she is telling.
"We implore Terri Horman to fully cooperate with the investigators to bring Kyron home," she said Thursday.
That is exactly what Terri Horman has been doing, though, Staton said on Friday.
"To date there has been no indication through our detectives or through our investigators that she's been uncooperative," Staton said at a news conference that was called because of the flood of media questions his office has received about the case.
Meanwhile, people have left cards and balloons at the fence outside Kyron's school, all expressing wishes for his safe return.
Police said they have chased nearly 3,000 leads, but the summer drags on ... without Kyron.

Artgirl you make a good point. If the landscaping trucks had been there nobody would notice them as being something different.
Also wasn't it a white truck and a red mustang chasing over on that Island?
We all thought it was the family truck but maybe it was a landscaping truck.
This is looking very bad for this little boy. I can't see a landscaper caring for a missing boy while all this searching is going on.

I don't believe the landscaper would have taken Kyron, and then come forward and say he was approached by Terri to take Kaine out. If he took the boy, he would have kept his mouth shut. Look what all happened to Roy Kronk, and he actually found the remains of sweet little Caylee. He did nothing wrong!!!

In Sunday KATU also received our first confirmation that Terri Horman has been the subject of a prior investigation regarding her parenting.
A source confirmed late Sunday afternoon that the Oregon Department of Human Services opened a case on Terri Horman following a 2005 arrest and charge of driving under the influence. Her biological son, who was 11 at the time, was in the car when his mother was arrested. As such, Horman also was convicted of reckless endangerment of that son.
Horman pleaded guilty in that incident. She had her license suspended for a month and a half, and served out a 12-month probation for those convictions.
We called the Department of Human Services to try to get answers from the agency's case file. Instead, DHS workers referred us to investigators working Kyron Horman's disappearance case.

Yes, that was posted somewhere upthread on another page. That was when she was also body building. I have to wonder if she was also on roid rage at the time.
Re: Thread #1 - Kyron Horman: Missing for 9 Months/ Desiree believes Kyron is dead/ Supporters put pressure on Terri
This is my question. Did Terri go to the Science Fair with Kyron or just drop him off? If so, who took the pic of him?
Here is another article that basically tells us all we know but I found this part in bold interesting:
PORTLAND -- Terri Horman, the stepmother of Kyron Horman missing since June 4, attempted to hire a man to kill her husband, according to a report on The Oregonian's website.
The report has been independently confirmed by KOMO's sister station in Portland, KATU News.
Terri Horman reportedly approached a landscaper she had hired and offered him money to kill Kaine Horman, her husband. The incident took place approximately six months ago, according to The Oregonian.
The name of the landscaper allegedly involved in the plot has not been released. Terri Horman has not been charged with any crime.
In late-June, Kaine Horman abruptly moved out of the family home and took the couple's toddler daughter with him. He then filed for divorce from Terri and also was granted a restraining order. In official police documents, his new address was not disclosed.
A few days later, Terri Horman hired a high-profile defense attorney.
Two calls to police from the Hormans were logged on June 26, police said. The exact nature of the calls has not been released. However, one reportedly was related to a custody dispute. The recordings of the 9-1-1 calls have not been released by police.
Terri Horman has come under increasing scrutiny after Kyron, age 7, seemed to vanish from his small school on the outskirts of Portland just more than a month ago. Terri claims she dropped the second-grader off at Skyline School for a science fair and saw him walking to class. He was marked absent for the first class of the day.
Kyron was not reported as missing until nearly eight hours later, when he failed to exit a school bus taking children home. The failure of the school to call the Hormans after Kyron was marked absent prompted a district-wide revision in procedures by the Portland Public Schools.
Despite a massive search and thousands of tips, the 7-year-old has not been found.
This past Thursday, July 1, Desiree Young -- Kyron's biological mother -- read a public statement imploring Terri to assist in the investigation.
At a news conference Friday, July 2, Multnomah County Sheriff Dan Stanton told reporters that despite their exhaustive efforts, no credible sightings of the child had been reported.
Stanton did not make any mention of the alleged murder-for-hire plot involving Terri Horman but did say she was cooperating with the investigation.

Wrap in the last month I have seen such terrible reporting of non facts. "They" seem to get all kinds of things mixed up. Some papers worse than others.
Whatever happened to old fashioned good reporting. Oh yes I bet it went out the window with downsizing and underpaying employees.
I can see the landscaper taking Kyron. We don't know if he stepped forward or all that information came out in Terri's lie detectors.
I am at the point now where I think everybody lies. I am joining the mob that cries "hang her".
Personally I think they can't get anything out of her and they are putting the squeeze on her.
Sorry to say I think Kyron is buried under some landscaping project somewhere.

So, you now think she was responsible? I also believe Kyron is buried somewhere but not sure of any details that I conjure up. LOL.
I have had a vibe about the stepmom from day one and couldn't figure out why.
The question still remains: Did she drop Kyron off that fateful day or did she actually go to the Science Fair with him and take that pic? If not, who did and how did the media get it?
I so agree about the "reporting', Jeanne!!

Terri took Kyron to school, and she took the picture. That same day, she downloaded it onto her Facebook page.
I'm sure she and Kaine gave the picture to LE. That would be the first thing they asked for in order to get his face out to the public.

I think that statement could be taken different ways...It may just have been their summarizing of her taking him to school that morning..It is still bad reporting...IDK

Re: Thread #1 - Kyron Horman: Missing for 9 Months/ Desiree believes Kyron is dead/ Supporters put pressure on Terri
If all these allegations against Terri are true, I wonder what kind of life little Kyron has endured...I think that he and Caylee must have suffered the same type of treatment...all lovey-dovey and concerned around others, but cold, bitter, and resentful when alone (remember that chilling video of little Caylee eating breakfast?)...Maybe that's why Kyron stayed in his bed until someone came and got him in the morning..I wonder if Kaine and Desiree are now remembering signs that they never noticed before...A 7-year-old probably doesn't know how to verbalize "My stepmom hates me" especially when she acts fine most of the time around others. And maybe she didn't really hate him, but just resented him, especially after her own son had to move out...Not that she physically abused Kyron, or even verbally, but emotionally...Just some random thoughts I was having...

Lisette I don't think a little kid age 7 has the knowledge to know his life is different from others.
I remember back when I was a child and not until I started visiting friends did I know that my life was "not that swell". I didn't realize mothers made delicious dinners every night. I didn't know mothers tucked children into bed with prayers after helping them brush their teeth. I didn't know that other children didn't have to wait til 12 noon on Christmas morning when mom finally got up to open my two presents. I didn't know that if you locked yourself out side and couldn't get in again til she got home that night others had mothers that said..Oh honey I am sorry are you upset and gave them a hug.
So there you have my young life in a nutshell. There is more but I will save it for Labor day weekend.
Something to look forward too. lol
Anywho little Kyron might have thought his life was normal.

Jeanne, you're probably right...your observations from personal experience were very enlightening and touching. I hope Kyron DID get that love from Kaine and Desiree...And maybe I'm being too hard on Terri...Hopefully she did treat Kyron with kindness...And, maybe she is totally innocent of any wrongdoing in his disappearance (hard to believe at this point, however).

Affair?
KGW also reports investigators told Kyron’s father his wife may have tried to hire other “hit men.” Her alleged motive? According to KGW’s source, Terri Horman told the landscaper she was in a bad marriage, alleging Kaine Horman had an affair with his co-worker at Intel. The landscaper told authorities investigating Kyron Horman’s disappearance about the alleged plot, agreeing to take part in a sting operation on June 26. That day the unidentified landscaper, wearing a wire, and an undercover cop met up with Terri Horman to discuss the murder-for-hire plot. But Terri Horman, possibly suspicious, abruptly cut the conversation short. A few hours later, Kaine Horman is told about the alleged plot and he and the couple’s 19-month-old baby girl move out.

Statement from Kyron Horman's parents, 7/5
In response to questions submitted by the media, the parents of Kyron Horman, Desiree and Kaine, submitted these written answers late Monday evening:
KYRON
How difficult was it to be without Kyron this 4th of July?
Desiree - It was very difficult. Kyron doesn't like real loud noises and so he generally is kind of timid when it comes to celebrating the 4th of July, but the main thing that I missed was Kyron sitting on my lap for the entire show. I always tell him he is just making sure that I am not afraid, at least that is what I tell him when his 15 year old brother teases him about it.
Kaine - extremely difficult. He likes the lights and colors but not the noises and will often sit and watch with his ears covered. We have tried a few fireworks in the past but he definitely prefers watching them. Kyron enjoys the food/BBQ that we usually do and we usually play outside most of the day, which he loves to do.
What was planned for Kyron to be doing this week if he had not disappeared?
He was supposed to be in California on vacation with his dad visiting friends - swimming, BBQ'ing, playing mini-golf, going to the water slides, a possible trip to the races, visiting to Monterey, and watching fireworks/celebrating the 4th of July with everyone.
Are you worried Terri is becoming the story and not Kyron?
Our main goal is to keep Kyron in the front of everyone's mind because we have a better chance of finding him. So we are constantly working to keep him the focus of the story and not Terri.
Help us understand why you remain so certain Kyron is alive?
We remain hopeful because we haven't been given any information by law enforcement to indicate he isn't still alive and therefore we will always expect that he will come home to us.
It has been a month since Kyron went missing, has this been the longest amount of time that any of you have been away from Kyron?
Yes, it is the longest stretch of time for all of us where we have been unable to at least call or talk to him in one form or another.
The note put on the fence by Desiree for Kyron last week - are you willing to share what was in that note?
It's personal to Ky, but I reassured him that we were on the way and that we will never stop looking for him.
It's been just over one month since Kyron disappeared, how is the family seeking support to keep up hope that Kyron will be returned home safely? Who is the most helpful source of support outside the family?
The only support we have been seeking is for people to keep an eye out for him. The local community and people all across the state of Oregon and everywhere in the Unites States have sent notes of prayer, reassurance, and strength in support of Kyron and our family. While the local community is relentless in its search for Kyron and support of the investigation, the national community continues to get the word out and watch for him. We will be reaching out to other families and organizations that help with missing children cases, we have not yet had enough time to do so. Other than that our strength and support comes from our love for Kyron and we lean on each other as much as we can while we search for him.
What does Kyron's room look like now? Have you made any changes to it since he disappeared?
Desiree - I haven't made any changes to his room other than to vacuum it. I still have his laundry laid out and his bed not made because I can't bring myself to make his bed. I like to see that it looks slept in.
Kaine - We have done a little cleaning but otherwise it is in the same state it was when he left it. We had some family friends come over and we all played in his room to fill it with love and happy noises for Kyron, exactly as he would want if he would have been there with us. Additions to his room include gifts from other children that will be awaiting him when he gets home.
Can you say something along what you said earlier about this not being two separate stories, but all about trying to find Kyron?
Kyron Horman is one story. As stated on an earlier interview, EVERYTHING we do is to expedite the investigation as best we can and bring him home quickly and safely.
Can you repeat your comment about how all you care about is putting pressure on whoever did this to Kyron? In essence, this is what it's all about.
All of us care very much about bringing this person to justice and bringing Kyron home and we will not stop until that is done.
TERRI
The Sheriff spoke out on Friday and said Terri Horman has cooperated throughout the investigation but was insinuated in your statement that she has not been cooperating-please explain.
We believe that the Sheriff's statement could have been misinterpreted and possibly reflects Terri's cooperation to participate in prior weeks during the investigation. The statement was directed at historical cooperation not current cooperation. Based upon information we have received from briefings it is our understanding, and continues to be such, that she has not been cooperating. We have been briefed by law enforcement and we have not received a response since our request for her to fully cooperate with investigators to assist in bringing Kyron home. We continue to issue our plea of her FULLY cooperating with law enforcement and the investigation to help bring Kyron home as quickly as possible.
KAINE
Trying to clear up so many reports that have been out there: Was Kaine waiting at the bus stop for Kyron to get off of the school bus?
Yes I was. I walked Kiara down to the bus stop about 3:35 with Terri following close after we left. We all arrived down at the bus stop together and waited as the bus came to the stop.
When is the last time Kaine saw Kyron?
I last saw him at about 7:45 am. He was coming back to the house after feeding our cat (Bootsie) and I was heading out to the car to head into the office. I walked over to him, told him I was extremely proud of him for the effort he put into his red-eyed tree frog project, and for him to have a great and fun day at the science fair. We talked about maybe going for a special treat and playing the Wii after school, and then I said "I love you". He said "I love you too, Dad", at which point we hugged, and then he went into the house as I got into the car and left. While I have not seen him since, that moment in time is still etched in my mind as if it just happened and is a constant reminder of the joy of having him as a son.
Was Kaine working from home the day Kyron went missing? If so, when did Terri get home from the school?
No, I was in the office that day until about 1:45 and arrived back home a little after 2pm. Terri was already in the house, on her laptop, when I arrived. I kissed Kiara, grabbed some food, and worked from my home office until about 3:30 at which time I put shoes on Kiara and we started walking down toward the bus stop.
Was Kyron supposed to be out of school the following Friday for a doctor's appt.?
There was some discussion about the appointment but it was unknown exactly when the appointment was scheduled so we cannot comment for certain.
CASE
Do you all still feel strongly that the investigation remains on track?
Yes, we feel the investigation continues to be on track and progressing toward finding Kyron. Every action we take is for the sole purpose of expediting the investigation and search for him and to bring him home as quickly as possible. Some actions can appear as distractions but our purpose, all efforts/actions, and our focus remain unwavered until he is home and safe.
Kaine are you able to confirm anything in the Oregonian story that was in the Sunday Paper that says it was discovered by police that Terri had attempted a Murder for Hire Plot?
We are unable to comment.
Do you receive daily briefings? If so, how are those briefings delivered to you?
Yes we receive daily briefings or more frequently as needed, the delivery method changes based upon participant locations.
What would you like to see happen in the investigation that hasn't been thus far?
As Kyron's family we have only one goal with the investigation, we only care about Kyron coming home to us soon.
Have you been asked to take polygraphs? If so, did you take them?
Yes, all 3 of us have taken polygraphs and have voluntarily undergone any and all sessions with law enforcement and will continue to do so as long as it takes to bring Kyron home. We wake up every day and check in to proactively see what else we can do to help with the case and to find Kyron. We are relentless in this focus

Re: Thread #1 - Kyron Horman: Missing for 9 Months/ Desiree believes Kyron is dead/ Supporters put pressure on Terri
I have thought this from the beginning, but I wonder if Kyron has some form of Autism. I may be completely off base here, but he strikes me as someone who is not what I would call a "normal" 7 year old. I am not a shrink, this is just MOO.
I find it interesting that there are questions whether Terri is now cooperating. It doesn't look like she is and I think LE wants to arrest her, but they don't have enough for a grand jury to indict. Also, I question this landscaper. Why did LE have to go to him? (This was noted on NG tonight w/Jean Casarus - back from Lima, sitting in for Nancy. She is excellent at what she does and I wish she had her own show - sorry..off topic). It seems strange to me that this landscaper did not go straight to LE when this case hit the media and let them know Terri asked him to kill her husband. Very strange. And, I wonder...has this landscaper (who Kaine knew nothing about) possibly having an affair w/Terri? Seriously, the mind can conjure up all kinds of speculation with this case.
I do feel badly for the family as they are hell bent that Kyron is still alive. My question to them would be:"Where do you think he is? Who do you think has him?" No, I do Not believe he is still alive, and I fear this will turn into a cold case like Haleigh Cummings. I hope I am very, very wrong!

These two statements seem very odd to me. I thought Desiree did not live close by, that's why she didn't attend the Science Fair. So, when was the last time he slept in his bed at mom's house? Does she never make his bed????? That bed would have been made before he left for school in my house. All beds are made, in my house, as soon as you get out of them. "A warm bed is easier to make that a cold one."
Why would Kaine have ppl in Kyron's room playing??? If my son was missing, no one would be allowed to play in his room.
These two ppl answer questions like they are actually a couple, living in the same house. Is Kaine and the baby living with Desiree and her hubby at this time? There are lots of ?????'s in this case.

Re: Thread #1 - Kyron Horman: Missing for 9 Months/ Desiree believes Kyron is dead/ Supporters put pressure on Terri
I agree. Not sure if Desiree is talking about her house or Kaine's house. Either way, I thought that was strange how they allowed people to play in his room.
If it were me, I would want nothing moved. I would want everything the way it was the last time he was in his room.
Concerned, your like a drlll sargent on the unmade beds. My ex mother-in-law (who I am still very close to) says she makes her bed right away so the devil won't get in it.

Poor little Kyron Horman. Right now, I don’t think any of us can make heads – nor tails – out of the saga that’s unfolding before our very eyes and ears. While many of us have grown accustomed to learning of the sordid details of people’s personal lives because of crimes or actions that become very public, do we ever really grow numb? No, it still shocks and “aws” us, as in, “Aw, shucks. Tell me it’s not true!”

One of the articles I was reading and forgive me but I have no idea which one right now. But the article said a person can dig a hole, bury a body, pile lime on the body and poof it is gone in a matter of days.
This thought haunts me when I think "landscaper".
Will they ever find little Kyron alive?

Personally speaking as the owner of VH, I will say outright that I am NOT a fan of MD. He is now on Blog Talk Radio every Sun. w/Simon and the gang and I refuse to listen to him. That being said, there is freedom of speech but I am a bit shocked at what he has posted. He better be able to back up his allegations and pics.
IF, and that is a big IF - this is true..OMG is all I can say. It just makes this case more convoluted than it already is.
This is solely my opinion and I take full responsibility for this post. Wrapitup.
p.s. MD has retracted the pics and taken them down.

Very valid points, Lisette. I hope Kyron has survived this ordeal. It is so sad.lisette wrote:Oh, wow, this is unbelievable!

I was thinking of this bedroom business. I would be so afraid to disturb something that might be a clue to his disappearance I would make it a shrine.
Also I would want to preserve his "smell" in case they wanted something for dogs for searching.
Strange how different folks react to terrible news.
All are different.

Well, the "swingers" idea had occurred to me also (and I previously posted this), but there is no fact made public that would back up that suspicion. The bedroom?---It's almost like they view this activity as a "celebration of life" that people do in their grief at wakes. It says to me that they really don't think he is alive like they are saying publicly. And trying to hire a hitman for her husband?----That is the most damming accusation to surface yet, if true it would mean that this woman is not above entertaining the idea of murder. Just my observations here, nothing more.

We moved from that town when my girls were in the 10th, 11th and 12th grades, and Michael's bedroom was still the same. Even the clothes that he had worn to school that day were still lying on the foot of his bed. He had a little over a dollar in change on his dresser and it was never moved. During that 6 year period her husband left her, taking the daughter with him as he said she had gone completely over the edge, even telling them that the only person she had ever loved had died.
Everyone reacts differently to tragedies, but this story and the Horman/Young story seem to be at each end of the rediculous.

Each to their own I guess but I could not move on if I was say in the Anthony home. Walking by those bedrooms every day would be more than I could bare. I am treading lightly on the step Mom. The whole story is bizarre.

Kyron Horman: Landscaper says he acted on lead from stepmom, but got no response (hear audio)
Over the weekend, news broke that the stepmother of Kyron Horman had allegedly attempted to hire a landscaper to kill the missing Oregon boy’s father. On Monday, another landscaper called radio station KXL saying he followed up on a third-party lead regarding lawn services, but got no response.
Zach of All-American Cleaning and Landscape said he called and emailed Terri Horman in April and May when he was notified by Service Magic that she was looking for a “yard clean-up on a medium-sized yard.”
After revelations that she may have been searching for a hit man, Zach told radio show host Lars Larson that he believes she likely didn't contact him because he didn't fit the profile of the type of landscaper she was looking for.
