Re: Thread #1 - Kyron Horman: Missing for 9 Months/ Desiree believes Kyron is dead/ Supporters put pressure on Terri
That was a great article - thanks for posting it, BJ!
I did notice a slight omission, however (made by writer of the article, not BJ) - the writer skipped over the part of how & when Terri met her first husband (Ron Tarver), and instead went to their son (James) being born & then Tarver & Moulton divorcing soon after. Guess it's not a big deal, but would have been interesting to learn more about her first husband (who is the father of their son, James).
I must say that the whole "family dynamics" are very confusing (I didn't realize that Desiree had been married before Kaine & had a son also)! From what I understand there are four children involved: Quinn (Desiree's son from her first marriage), James (Terri Moulton's son from her first marriage), Kyron (Kaine & Desiree's son), and now Kiara (Kaine & Terri's son). All of the shuffling back & forth between families must have been stressful for both the parents & the children!!

Rainbow, BJ inadverdently, I'm sure, left the two paragraphs in italics out of the original article...I have done the same thing when copying and pasting..
Ecker adopted James and has paid child support all these years, as the article elaborated on...
Meanwhile, the couple [Terri and Ron Tarver] decided to have a child, but Horman could not get pregnant. On Facebook, she wrote that she thought in her 20s that she could not have kids but then ended up having three, counting Kyron.
In January 1994, James Logan was born, named for James Bond and Carol Moulton's maiden name, Logan.
By 1995, Horman's marriage to Tarver soured, with each accusing the other of infidelity. They divorced in November, and she gained custody of James, with Tarver agreeing to later pay child support.
Horman moved back to her parents' house in Roseburg. She later attended McDonald's fast food management school and worked for a time at a McDonald's in Cottage Grove, Ecker said.
Romantically, she moved on as well. She started dating Ecker again, and in August 1996 they married in Springfield...

An interview with Terri Moulton Horman’s first ex-husband on June 30, 2010
Ron Tarver and his wife, Angela Rockwood, say they offered to assist in any way but received no reply from Terri Moulton Horman.
Ron Tarver hesitates when asked whether his ex-wife, Terri Moulton Horman, could be behind the disappearance of her stepson, Kyron Horman.
Tarver says she cheated on him during their four-year marriage. Then she left him in 1995. But responsible for what happened to a 7-year-old boy?
“I don’t know [what she’s capable of doing],” says Tarver, standing with his current wife, Angela Rockwood, outside their house in this Southern Oregon town of 21,000 people.
“We’re not blind. Obviously they’re zeroing in on Terri,” Tarver says. “I just have a hard time believing anyone would be capable of doing that.”
Tarver does know one thing for sure: Cops were homing in on Terri Moulton Horman within days of Kyron’s disappearance. As first reported June 17 on wweek.com, law-enforcement sources say the investigation has increasingly focused on Kyron’s stepmom.
In the latest developments, Kyron’s father, Kaine Horman, filed for divorce from Terri Moulton Horman on June 28, citing irreconcilable differences. He also took out a restraining order against her under the Family Abuse Prevention Act. A judge has sealed that request.
Tarver, who is 41, has followed the story from 200 miles away in Roseburg, tied to the unfolding drama by his marriage to Terri Moulton 19 years ago.
They were married in 1991, when Tarver was 22 and she was 21.
But the marriage fizzled, Tarver says, after Moulton began cheating on him and the restaurant they owned together failed.
Moulton kept custody of James, and Tarver saw the boy regularly on weekends—but recently, James left his mother’s home to live with his maternal grandparents in Roseburg.
Until then James had been living with his mother and Kaine Horman off Cornelius Pass Road in unincorporated Multnomah County. Also sharing the house was Kyron, who is Kaine Horman’s son from his first marriage, and Kiara, the couple’s 18-month-old daughter.
After Kyron vanished, the reasons why James left his home and friends in Portland to move to Southern Oregon have been the subject of intense speculation. Terri Moulton Horman declined to comment when WW visited her home June 23.
James was a student at Lincoln High School in Portland, where he was on the swim team and played trumpet in the school band. Tarver says Terri Moulton Horman sent the boy to Roseburg in March this year because his grades were slipping and he was acting out at home.
“He and Kaine on occasion butted heads, because James is hard-headed,” Tarver says.
Trouble hit home again when Kyron disappeared. The day after Kyron vanished, Tarver says, James went to the Hormans’ house for a previously planned weeklong visit.
Tarver says on June 8, four days after Kyron disappeared, James called him from the Hormans’ house and mentioned Terri Moulton Horman had taken a polygraph test. It’s been reported that she has since taken a second polygraph. What hasn’t been publicly confirmed until now is that authorities were already focusing on her so soon after Kyron vanished.
Tarver says when James mentioned the polygraph to him over the phone, he heard Terri Moulton Horman begin yelling in the background to be quiet and not reveal anything more. Given the intense media scrutiny, the family agreed James should return to Roseburg, Tarver says.
“It was a zoo, so we got him out of there,” Tarver says. “It’s just been devastating for the whole family. Obviously, the longer it drags on, the less chance there is for a happy ending.”

Report says: DeDe Spicher refuses to take a polygraph test
New information has been released in the Kyron Horman case and the latest news says that DeDe Spicher refuses to take a polygraph test. DeDe Spicher is good friends with Terri Horman and according to an interview Spicher gave with People magazine, she spent 11 days living with Terri Horman after Kyron’s disappearance. Though neither Terri Horman nor DeDe Spicher have been named suspects in the case, the two were featured in a flyer distributed to Portland, Oregon residents. Why would DeDe Spicher refuse to take a polygraph test?
There are several reasons why DeDe Spicher may refuse to take a polygraph test and her refusal may not indicate involvement in Kyron Horman’s disappearance. Though many in the public are quick to say that her refusal shows she is guilty it doesn’t.
Some people refuse to take polygraph tests on the advice of their attorney. In some of these cases the individual may wish to take the test but their attorney simply advises against it. Is this the case with DeDe? We aren’t sure if DeDe has legal representation or not but if so, she may have been advised not to take one.
DeDe Spicher may be nervous and fearful in regards to taking a polygraph. She may fear that if she takes it the test would register a false positive based upon her fears. There is great controversy regarding whether fear can cause false readings in polygraph tests. Most experts say that it doesn’t.
Finally, there is the possibility that DeDe Spicher is hiding something therefore she is refusing to take the test.

Re: Thread #1 - Kyron Horman: Missing for 9 Months/ Desiree believes Kyron is dead/ Supporters put pressure on Terri
BJ, Thank you so much for the great articles and pics you posted! You're a gem!
While reading the description of TMH's life..I got the impression she was spoiled rotten as an only adopted child. She seems to display Narcissistic Personality Disorder and a control freak. She rather reminds me of Casey Anthony with the "sweet as pie and can talk to anyone" personality but it's all a huge front.
As far as Spicher, I still say..if she had Zero to do with any part of Kyron missing, there is No reason Not to take a poly.
And, that little Kiara???? Absolutely precious!! Poor little Kyron. I think he will eventually be found but I do not think it will be a good outcome.

BJ, I enjoyed seeing those pictures of Terri, Kaine, Kyron & Kiara. I must say the first picture (of her flexing her muscles) is pretty scary! In fact, it gives a glimpse of another side of her personality that could cause harm to a little boy!

As the investigation into Kyron Horman's disappearance hits the 12 week mark, the grand jury is meeting again.
The jury this week is interviewing law enforcement officers involved in the case, and will likely meet at least through Wednesday, sources told KOIN Local 6.
In other news, Skyline School, where the 7-year-old boy was last seen, has reopened to register new students, according to the office. Kyron's mother, Desiree Young, said the family is still looking for someone to host the 'Wall of Hope,' a tribute to the boy, because it must be moved before the opening day of school, Sept. 7.
It's possible Desiree may make an appearance at a Wednesday hearing to go over Kaine Horman's divorce from his estranged wife Terri Moulton Horman. That should thrill Terri!
It would be the first appearance with all three since the June news conference following Kyron's disappearance.
A late afternoon proceeding is scheduled to deal with divorce and restraining order matters in a Multnomah County Courtroom.
Michael Cook may also make an appearance, since it is alleged Terri showed parts of a restraining order to Cook when the order was sealed.

PORTLAND -- A Multnomah County grand jury investigating the disappearance of Kyron Horman could continue for months, according to information from the presiding judge.
KGW has learned that Judge Jean Kerr Maurer issued an order from August 20th through October 29th restricting any audio or visual recording of witnesses coming or going from the grand jury room. Maurer had issued a similar order in early August but it had since expired.

Detectives get 3,700 tips in Kyron Horman case; stepmother Terri Moulton Horman still in Roseburg

Multnomah County investigators continue to check out a mountain of tips in the disappearance of Kyron Horman.
Since the 7-year-old was last seen at Skyline School in Northwest Portland on June 4, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office has received 3,700 tips from the community that detectives are checking out. Deputy Jon Alfano, an agency spokesman, said dogs and officials are available if detectives need them in the field to search specific areas. No large-scale search is underway at the moment, he said.
No arrests have been made in Kyron’s disappearance and no suspects or even a person or persons of interest have been named, but the investigation is focused on Terri Moulton Horman, Kyron’s stepmother, who has retreated to her parent’s home in Roseburg. Her son James told The Oregonian that she no longer has a computer or cell phone and has been told by her lawyer, Stephen Houze, to stay out of public view.

I think that if after 10 years there looks to be justice for Leah, we might have to also wait a long time in this case as well because they really dont have anything concrete enough to charge her. But I do believe that in the end she will be arrested, it may not be now, but sometime in the future. I dont think that those policemen in that district are going to just let this case drop for lack of evidence. We have to patient.

I too don't thing there is enough to arrest her. A grand jury doesn't meet for this long if they have any good witnesses or evidence. They are digging hard but I just don't think it's there.
An indictment can be returned in a short period of time with good information. They are interviewing everybody and their brother.
Sorry to say it looks like this might be a long one and I am afraid little Kyron is gone for good.

Kaine Horman, Terri Horman expected in court today
Last Update: 9:34 am
Terri Horman is expected back in Portland today to appear in court for a hearing on divorce proceedings from her estranged husband, Kaine Horman.
Kaine wants to push the divorce proceedings along, while Terri wants to wait until the criminal investigation into Kyron Horman's disappearance is complete.
Terri was the last person seen with Kyron, who vanished from Skyline School on June 4.
Kaine and Desiree Young, Kyron's mother, said previously that Terri isn't fully cooperating with law enforcement.
Terri wants the divorce delayed, and if the judge grants her motion, the divorce could be put on hold for up to two years.
The court may also force Terri to show where she got the $350,000 she claims it cost to retain criminal attorney Stephen Houze.
"Kaine is arguing that there is no reason to set this over, and her (Terri's) personal reasons are not going to trump his right to have a divorce," said Bruce McCain, an attorney and former Multnomah County Sheriff's Captain.
As this happens, the grand jury in the case will be meeting as well.

Interesting all of this. I am wondering what the visitation for the little girl will be. Surely Terri is dying to see her. I would think that little girl would want to be held in her mothers arms too.
They must have a lot more on Terri then we realize or otherwise somebody is surely getting away scot free.
Have the police even suggested the posibility of an abduction by another person? A stranger?
This one is certainly baffling.

I wonder..the grand jury is meeting on the same day Terri w/be in court re: divorce proceedings. What if they have enough to indict her on and arrest her right there at the court house? Could this be the plan?
Jeanne, I agree..I am sure the baby misses her mother.

Terri Horman accompanied by attorneys Peter Bunch and Stephen Houze, right. leaves the Multnomah County Courthouse Wednesday
PORTLAND, Ore. - Terri Horman was back in Portland for a court appearance related to her divorce from Kaine Horman, the father of missing Skyline student Kyron Horman.
Sheriff's deputies gathered at the back door of the courthouse Wednesday afternoon, waiting for the arrival of Kyron's stepmother Terri. She was flanked by her two attorneys - including high-powered defense attorney Stephen Houze - and was escorted into the Multnomah County courthouse by deputies.
Kaine Horman was not at the courthouse Wednesday. However, his attorney, Laura Rackner, was.
Rackner told KATU they were there for "a scheduling hearing." The hearing concluded around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Horman had no comment for reporters as she entered and left the courthouse but she was still wearing what appeared to be a wedding ring.
In court the two sides talked about three different things:
First, Kaine wants Terri to show where she supposedly got $350,000 to hire Houze.
Second, Terri wants all the legal issues Kaine has filed against her in their divorce postponed for up to two years. Legal experts say her side is trying to keep her out of any situation that would get her under oath.
Third, they talked about the contempt of court case Kaine filed against Terri, claiming she broke a court order by showing the then sealed restraining order to friend Mike Cook.
In the end the only thing that was decided is the judge will hear arguments on the money and postponement in early October, and the contempt case will be in mid-September.
Family law attorney Laura Graser, who’s also familiar with criminal appeals, says Kaine has every right as a spouse in a divorce proceeding to legally inquire about Terri’s ability to pay that fee. Legally, they’re still married and by law, their marital assets should be frozen, precluding someone from going out and spending an excessive amount of money on anything, let alone criminal defense.
“It sounds like these folks are sort of regular middle class people that have middle class income, and if in the middle of a divorce proceeding one middle class spouse arrives in a $350,000 or $100,000 expensive , fancy car, the other spouse has the right to inquire because it’s probably a marital asset until the divorce is final,” said Graser. “I don’t mean to suggest that Mr. Houze is like a fancy car. He’s a very fine lawyer and murder investigations are very time consuming to defend. That’s a very large retainer but I don’t find it outside the realm of possible.”
She says what is also at stake are the competing interests of Kaine and Terri, given that he wants a divorce from the woman he believes tried to have him killed and she’s been the focus of investigators looking into Kyron’s disappearance.
“He has a right to proceed with the divorce, and he has a right to get divorced if he wants to be divorced in a relatively expeditious manner,” she said. “She has a right to not incriminate herself. So there’s a tension there that some judge is going to have to resolve.”
A former prosecutor also says it’s not unusual to have a criminal case overlapping with a civil case. It happens quite frequently in domestic violence situations in which a divorce comes out of a domestic incident.
The question remains as to why Terri Horman came to the hearing. She certainly had the right to do so but said nothing in court, nothing to the media, and her presence, legally, wasn’t necessary.
Meanwhile, this hearing took on a life of its own. With the media barred from taking in-court images, at least two sketch artists were hired to draw images of the in-court scene.
Terri Horman has been largely absent from the Portland area since she left for Roseburg, Ore. - her family home - in July.
Investigators have not named Terri Horman a suspect or person of interest in this case, and they have not made any arrests.
http://www.katu.com/news/local/101511664.html
Wonder why she came to court when she didn't have to? Looks like she has lost weight.

Re: Thread #1 - Kyron Horman: Missing for 9 Months/ Desiree believes Kyron is dead/ Supporters put pressure on Terri
PORTLAND, Ore. - Investigators are a long way from finding out what happened to Kyron Horman, the 7-year-old boy who disappeared 11 weeks ago from his school, according to a well-placed source on Friday.
The source said investigators are gathering new facts everyday but unless some unforeseen bit of evidence appears the investigation will likely take months.
Other recent cases show it can take years to get answers and Jim McIntyre, an attorney and former prosecutor, said the public has a false expectation that cases like this are solved quickly. He said he doesn’t think the Kyron investigation has stalled.
“It may be easy to draw that conclusion, but it’s not a reality,” he said.
McIntyre was a senior member of the Multnomah County District Attorney’s office when the case of David Waldron was concluded.
Waldron agreed to a sentence of six years for the death of his wife Barbara though her body had not been found.
“I did not want to put my family, particularly my children, through the ordeal of a trial,” Waldron said on May 12, 2005.
The Waldrons lived south of Kyron’s school, Skyline School, on Skyline Boulevard. Multnomah searchers at the time combed the same forest where they searched for clues in the Kyron case just two weeks ago.
The Waldron case even involved the same judge who’s now hearing Kaine and Terri Horman’s divorce case.
It took investigators three years to reach a conclusion by showing something must have happened to Barbara because banking and phone records showed no activity.
Cases involving missing children are even more difficult.
“You’re never waiting for just one clue to come through,” McIntyre said. “These things are always a compendium of information where you’re trying to get circumstantial facts and pieces put together that are going to lead you to an ultimate conclusion.
“It could be just as correct that we could go on for a year or two or three or five years or perhaps never, but it’s also, I think, at this point just as feasible that something could break in a very short period of time.”
What is complicating Kyron’s case is there’s no crime scene where investigators can look for evidence left behind.

Re: Thread #1 - Kyron Horman: Missing for 9 Months/ Desiree believes Kyron is dead/ Supporters put pressure on Terri
So the question of the day is "why would Terri show up in court if it was not necessary?"
My guess would be it was a power move. Saying "I have done nothing wrong, I have nothing to hide, I am a strong woman".
The wearing of the wedding ring is also telling to me. Like she is asking the question "why"?
Thats my take on her appearance.

IMHO, asking why Terri Horman showed up in court when she didn't have to is like asking why the chicken crossed the road.

Kyron Horman's Parents Launch Website
POSTED: 6:59 pm PDT August 18, 2010
UPDATED: 8:24 pm PDT August 18, 2010
PORTLAND, Ore. -- Kyron Horman's parents launched a website for their missing son last week in hopes of directly communicating with the public and generating tips.
Kaine Horman, father of the 7-year-old, said BringKyronHome.org is a resource for everything related to the boy and the investigation.
“We want people to know that this website represents the presence of Kyron’s parents and no one else. Everything that is on here comes directly from us," Kaine Horman said.
The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office tip line is featured prominently on the site and visitors can print out fliers about Kyron in 12 languages.
There is also a place to make donations and leave messages for the family.
A handful of websites offering updates about the case popped up since the boy vanished June 4 from Skyline School. Among the most prominent, a Facebook page called Missing Kyron Horman, has gathered tens of thousands of followers.
Kyron's parents asked people interested in organizing fundraisers to contact the woman running the Facebook page.

Re: Thread #1 - Kyron Horman: Missing for 9 Months/ Desiree believes Kyron is dead/ Supporters put pressure on Terri
I was watching Prime Time News (on HLN) today: the Multnomah chief of police was talking about the Kyron Horman case... he said that the case is basically at a standstill due to the lack of forensic evidence. He said this is why they haven't named Terri Horman as a suspect or tried to arrest her - they just don't know if Kyron is dead or alive. (BJ, I tried hard to find info about this recent development, but couldn't... Maybe you can find something?)
This is starting to remind me of Stacy Peterson's disappearance. Drew Peterson kept insisting that she ran off with a boyfriend, but all the circumstantial evidence pointed to him murdering her! Thankfully the judge decided to allow his previous wife's testimony (written out before her death), and he is now in prison where he belongs!!
I'm just hoping & praying that soon there will be a break in this case too. Either Kyron will be found, or the stepmom will crack (which is what I think LE is hoping for)! All the circumstantial evidence seems to be pointing to her (sorry, Jeanne... I know you have been rooting for her).

Rainbow, you're a gem! Thanks for the above link and your posts! IMHO, I don't think they have enough CIRCUMSTANTIAL evidence either...otherwise, an arrest would have been made. I think she is involved up to her eyeball's, but I also think she is extremely smart.
Here is a snippet of the new website for Kyron made by his father:
Continue to raise awareness about Kyron to everyone:
1. Spread the word - Send emails to friends, family, co-workers, church members, etc. and include this website; post this website and/or flier to your social networking accounts. Keep this story going!
2. Distribute fliers - Download, print, and post fliers in your local area - shops, local businesses, your place of work (if allowed); fliers can be found in the bottom right-hand corner of this page.
3. Look for Kyron - Keep your eyes and ears open whenever you're out; watch for children who look like Kyron, and remember that his appearance may have been altered, i.e., no longer wearing glasses or wearing a different type of frame, hair may have been dyed a different color or cut to a different style, etc. If you suspect a child might be Kyron, call him "Kyron" and look for a reaction from the child and the adult(s) he is with.
4. Report anything strange or suspicious - Report any possible tips to the Tip Line: 503-261-2847, or call 911 if it is a critical/urgent situation. Don't resist reporting a tip, even if you're unsure of its validity. Many missing children are found by strangers reporting something that "just didn't seem right".

Rainbow actually I am not rooting for Terri. But I am rooting for fairness and wanting LE to take another look at all the evidence.
It just seems to me that after all this time they would have more than they do for the manhours spent on Terri.
She is either innocent, dam lucky or has committed the perfect crime. I am just not sure which one.
This one is just too hard to call!
Of course the murder for hire makes me take another look at Terri but he could be lying so that gives me pause.
I being a true Pisces always see both sides. It's just my nature...sigh....

You're a Pisces? Would have never in a gazillion years guessed that. I have never known a Pisces to see both sides. That is what Libra's do and that is me to a tee. You must have a Libra moon or ascendant.
My DIL is a Pisces. Born on leap year. She is poles apart from you. Sorry, off topic.
As far as Terri, I tend to agree with you, Jeanne when you said this:

Kyron's parents to share latest on case

Updated today at 9:11 AM
PORTLAND, Ore. -- The parents of Kyron Horman have scheduled one-on-one interviews with reporters for Friday afternoon, to share the latest information that they have on the disappearance of their son.
Kaine Horman and Desiree Young will be meeting with the press in a series of one-on-one interviews Friday to discuss the case.
Kyron Horman disappeared June 4 from Skyline Elementary School.
Police have received more than 3,700 tips in the case, and the focus of their investigation has been on Kyron's step-mom Terri Horman, but she has not been named a suspect or person of interest in the case.

Wonder why they are doing one-on-one interviews instead of one press conference? It seems like they will have to repeat a lot of answers to the same questions over and over again...I would not want to do that...

Kyron's parents accuse Terri Horman of kidnapping
The mother of 7-year-old Kyron Horman accused the missing boy's stepmother Friday morning of kidnapping the child and called on her to confess to investigators during an emotional press conference in Beaverton.
Desiree Young said she believes Terri Horman conspired with another, unknown person to abduct the boy, who has not been seen since June 4.
"The police are not going to stop until they find Kyron," Young said during a appearance with Kaine Horman, the missing boy's father. "You will go to jail and whoever is helping you will either talk or go to jail."
Kaine said he also believed Terri had conspired with someone to kidnap Kyron, saying he believes the boy is alive and being held captive. The two declined to speculate on why Terri would do such a thing. Desiree told reporters that Terri was "angry" but would not say about what.
During the half-hour press conference, Kaine Horman and Desiree Young said the "wall of hope" outside Skyline School would be taken down by late Sunday. Kyron was last seen at the school in rural Northwest Multnomah County. Terri took him there in the morning for a school science fair, and later told investigators she last saw him at about 8:45 a.m. walking to his classroom.
Kyron's eighth birthday is Sept. 9. Kaine and Desiree would not speculate on whether Terri will be arrested before then.
Desiree and Kaine also announced that the Godfather Pizza chain will hold a fundraiser for the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office search team on Sept. 1. The pizza restaurant will donate 25 percent of that day's sales to the team.
A list of the locations will be available on the family's new website, www.bringkyronhome.com .
Alleged plot
For the past 12 weeks, investigators have focused on Terri Horman, releasing fliers with pictures of her and a white Ford F-250 pickup she was driving the morning Kyron disappeared. A Multnomah County grand jury has been taking testimony in the case for weeks.
Investigators, however, have not named Terri as a suspect or a person of interest. She also is not accused of any crime in connection with the boy's disappearance.
In late June, Kaine filed for divorce, citing among other things an alleged plot to kill him that investigators said was discussed by Terri Horman and a landscaper. The plot never went beyond talk, investigators said.
Kaine Horman also claimed in court documents filed in the divorce that Terri shared court-sealed information with another man and somehow came up with $350,000 to pay her criminal defense attorney, Stephen Houze.
Terri Horman has not commented on any of the accusations or the family's allegations.
Terri has moved to her parents' home in Roseburg, where she is staying out of public view. She appeared Wednesday, Aug. 25, for a 20-minute divorce proceeding in Multnomah County Circuit Court, but would not talk to waiting reporters.

Kyron Horman's mother, Desiree Young, says his stepmom Terri Moulton Horman risks jail
Kyron Horman's mother, Desiree Young, had a harsh message today for his stepmother, saying Terri Moulton Horman risks going to jail if she doesn't tell investigators everything she knows.
"Terri, I feel you are at a crossroads in your life," Young said at a news conference in Beaverton. "Police will not stop until they find Kyron. You will go to jail and whoever has been helping you will either have to talk or they will go to jail."
"I believe you will make the right choice to bring Kyron home," she said.
When asked to speculate on why Terri Horman would have been involved in Kyron's disappearance, Young said Horman is angry. "Obviously, she's angry," Young said. "Whatever she's angry about, I don't know what that is for sure."
Desiree Young, Kyron Horman's mother, talks to reporters during a news conference this morning in Beaverton.
The statement ended a short news conference at a hotel in Beaverton with Kyron's dad, Kaine Horman. The couple said they decided to speak to media now -- even though they have no big news to announce -- to keep Kyron's story alive.
Horman said that the Wall of Hope outside Skyline School in Northwest Portland where his 7-year-old son disappeared June 4 will be moved by the end of the week. A new spot has not yet been found but Young and Horman hope to find a site close to the school.
They are also planning a fundraiser for Multnomah County Sheriff's Office next Wednesday at 12 Godfather's Pizza locations in the Portland area to help pay for search efforts.
Horman and Young said they're planning events on Sept. 9 to mark Kyron's eighth birthday. Classes at Skyline School resume Sept. 7.
The investigation is now entering its 13th week, with no arrests or named suspects. But it's been clear almost from the start that investigators are focused on Terri Moulton Horman, who was named by her divorce attorney, Peter Bunch, on Wednesday in court documents as a "de facto suspect" in the case.
The news conference, held at the Homewood Suites Hotel, follows the first public appearance on Wednesday of Terri Moulton Horman since she retreated to her parent's home in Roseburg on July 16.
Flanked by her defense lawyer Stephen Houze and divorce lawyer Peter Bunch, she turned up that day at a routine hearing to schedule a court date in her divorce with Kaine Horman.
Terri Horman, dressed in a black skirt suit and heels and apparently wearing her wedding band, said nothing listening to the proceedings. She left without talking to reporters.

Wow, BJ, that's a bombshell! She would not say this publicly unless everyone involved is nearly certain that this is the case, including the police.

I am wondering what makes them so confident Kyron was kidnapped. Is that better than thinking the worst?
I heard one of the men on JVM the other night saying one should never give up hope unless their loved one is recovered.
So perhaps this is their scenario until Kyron is found alive or dead.

I remember reading or hearing that the step father of Jaycee was considered a suspect in her disappearance. Does anybody remember or know how intensely they followed, watched him? Was it like Terri?

Kyron’s parents accuse Terri Horman of kidnapping
The biological parents of missing 7-year-old Kyron Horman on Friday accused his stepmother, Terri Moulton Horman, of kidnapping him and warned her she will go to jail if she doesn’t cooperate with investigators.
“Terri, you’re at a crossroads in your life,” Kyron’s biological mother, Desiree Young said in an interview with KATU News reporter Anna Canzano. “We don’t always like what life has to give us, but we don’t have a choice in that. The one thing we have a choice in is how we handle these moments.
“You really have to do the right thing and make the right choice and help us bring Kyron home.
“That’s ultimately my message to her. She just needs to choose to do the right thing.”
It was the harshest accusations yet directed at Terri Horman from Kyron’s parents. Desiree said she doesn’t think she and Kaine know why Terri would kidnap Kyron and whether it was to seek revenge against her or Kaine.
“We’re just trying to figure out what happened in this whole thing. I think we have thought that may be that could be the motivation: anger, revenge,” she said.
They said they believe Kyron is still alive and needs to be rescued.
Kaine and Desiree also spoke in great detail about Terri’s behavior.
“Speaking for myself, she was a great actress,” said Desiree. “I never knew she was unhappy in any way shape or form. But I didn’t live with her.”
But Kaine did, and he said, “I thought I knew her the best, but apparently I didn’t, based on all the information that’s come out – things that she’s done, the way that she operates.
There’s a lot I don’t know.”
When asked how he would describe Terri, since by all appearances in her Facebook photographs she’s a loving, devoted mother and loving wife, Kaine said that was the image she wanted to portray to him, too.
“That’s the image I saw,” he said. “Much more so in the beginning, not so much towards the end, but that’s how she came across to me at least for the first four or five years: very loving, very focused on children, wanting to do the right thing, and then it became much more about her and a lot more selfishness involved; how she was, I guess, apparently unhappy with our marriage. But yet, not willing to work through it or talk to me about it.”
Kaine said he doesn’t know what she was unhappy about.
“She wasn’t talking to me about it,” he said. “She was talking to other people about things that would happen and putting her spin on things, and I think in a lot of cases, trying to manipulate people to see a relationship that she felt was focused in a certain direction as opposed to where, maybe, it was really focused. I don’t know; I was only the recipient of the information. I’m only finding out about it after the fact.”
Even though Terri wasn’t under any legal obligation to show up to court this week for a hearing in her and Kaine’s divorce proceedings, Kaine described it as a “free appearance” because she didn’t have to testify or say anything.
“You can kind of let people know that you’re not in lockdown, that you are ‘out’, so to speak,” Kaine said. “I think a lot of people have the impression that she’s in prison, and I think it was an opportunity for them to try and portray a different side of it.”
When asked whether they find it strange how Terri’s reported interactions with the landscaper in the alleged murder-for-hire plot to kill Kaine and with Mike Cook, Kaine’s high-school classmate, all had sexual overtones, Kaine and Desiree said that is one of the ways Terri manipulates people.
“I think based on where we’ve been over the last three months I don’t know how you can predict or guess – anything’s possible,” Kaine said. “So I couldn’t say no at this particular point in time, because I’ve got no idea what else is coming.”
Desiree said “on the surface” Terri may think she will get away with whatever she did, but “deep down, I think she’s scared. She knows. We’re not going to stop. The investigation got way bigger than she ever thought it would.”
Desiree said when she’s out in public people are “generally very sweet and supportive, and it makes me feel good to know that people are out there thinking about Kyron, that it’s in the forefront of their minds.”
They also said they think Terri has someone helping her and is holding Kyron.
Kyron disappeared from Skyline School on June 4 and after extensive searches, not a trace of him has been found.
Terri Horman is the last known adult to have seen Kyron after she dropped him off at school the morning of June 4, and the investigation has increasingly focused on her.
Investigators, however, have not named her a suspect or even a person of interest in the case, and they have made no arrests.
Meanwhile, Kyron’s Wall of Hope outside of his school will be coming down on Sunday and late Friday afternoon Kyron’s parents said the wall will be moving to the Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue station nearby.
Desiree said if anyone wants to help move it, to please arrive at Skyline School at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29.
With the start of school on Sept. 7, the decision was made to move the wall in the interest of school safety.

BJ in OR wrote:Still trying.by Rainbow Today at 2:44 am I was watching Prime Time News (on HLN) today: the Multnomah chief of police was talking about the Kyron Horman case... he said that the case is basically at a standstill due to the lack of forensic evidence. (BJ, I tried hard to find info about this recent development, but couldn't... Maybe you can find something?)
Thanks BJ!! (I'm sure it will show up eventually!)
And thanks for the above posts - very interesting to read that both Desiree & Kaine feel that Terri is responsible for Kyron's disappearance. Even though LE refuses to call Terri a suspect, I guess D & K are free to voice their opinions! For some strange reason... I tend to agree with them!!

Sorry but I truly do not believe "somebody is holding Kyron for Terri".
I think something bad happened to Kyron. I think he will be found in the next month or so. In the Fall when the leaves fall and the land changes.
Things are not looking good for any of them.

Moving Kyron's Wall of Hope, security cameras installed
By Adam Ghassemi KATU News and KATU.com Staff
Next Saturday marks three months since Kyron Horman disappeared, with dozens still visiting the Wall of Hope at the edge of Skyline School almost daily. On Sunday morning, however, that will all change.

PORTLAND, Ore. – Two major things will be different come Tuesday, Sept. 7, which is the first day back at Skyline School.
First, the Wall of Hope – long a fixture on the fence around the school – will be moved down the road Sunday morning.
Second, there will be new security measures – including five top-of-the-line security cameras – to make sure kids who return will stay safe.
"It's scary to think that you could just drop them off, and that could be the last time you see them," said Laurie Davis, a grandmother at the school Saturday.
Nearly four months, and hope goes on
Believe it or not, this next Saturday will mark the three-month mark since second-grader Kyron Horman disappeared. And there are dozens of people who still visit the Wall of Hope at the edge of this school almost daily.
On Sunday morning, however, that will all change.
Volunteers are supposed to move the wall starting at 8:30 a.m. The goal will not only be to remove the mementos, but they'll do that by actually cutting the fence line and carrying it down the road to a nearby fire station.
Parents visiting the wall Saturday think the move to the Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue station is a smart one.
"It's real close to where it happened," said Skyline mom Kellie Davis, "and it's going to be a perfect place for it."
The school's principal said administrators are fine with the fence being removed, as long as it is back up before students return.
Crews also spent the day installing security cameras around campus – a system that didn't exist when Kyron disappeared back in June.
Sunday should be a busy day around the school, from moving the Wall of Hope to a Community Care Day where parents will volunteer their time to clean-up the campus. Skyline's Community Care Day runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, with opportunities for painting, yard work and more.

I guess I'm old-fashioned, but having a "Clean-up Day" on a Sunday?

Sunday is the day most folks are available. Saturdays seem to be devoted to Soccer games and other family activities.
After church on Sunday most folks are free for the day.
I can't believe Kyron has been gone almost 3 months now. It seems like just....yesterday. Poor baby.

Jeanne, you are right to voice that opinion. How many, many times have we all had false hopes for a missing child?---Too many to count. Yet, there has been a very small number that have been found alive, some after many years have gone by. Most of the time, it has turned out that our hopes were futile from day one.

I agree w/TR. I think Kyron is long gone..just like HaLeigh.

Something came to my mind after I went to bed last night...I wonder where these landscapers are from...I know they have Hispanic names. Could Terri have paid them or their contacts to smuggle Kyron out of the country? Could he have been put on a boat from Sauvie Island and then taken to a larger ship? Or maybe up and out through Canada? Just some thoughts...
