I would be surprised if it was for DNA only. I believe they have reason to look for birthmarks, tatoos, and such.

Interesting. The search warrant for Shawn's body could be for DNA (we know from Nancy Grace that Clint and Billie gave DNA samples at the start, no mention of Shawn). Could also be for body characteristics depicted in porn or described by a child or other unwilling partner. Sound like all the warrants were search warrants, not arrest warrants. So, LE can't arrest Shawn unless/until they match up physical evidence or body characteristics to a crime (unless they bust him on something smaller). JMO..

UPDATED 9:20 P.M. Billie Jean Dunn, mother of missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn, was arrested and charged with three misdemeanors today.

According to an official with the district attorney's office for the 32nd Judicial District, Dunn was charged with:

Hindering apprehension/prosecution, a Class A misdemeanor

Possession of a dangerous drug, a Class A misdemeanor

Giving a false report to a peace officer, a Class B misdemeanor

Dunn, 33, is the mother of 13-year-old Hailey Dunn, who was reported missing Dec. 28. She was arrested at 6:21 p.m. at her home and taken to the Mitchell County Jail. Her bond has not been set.

Earlier today search warrants were issued out of Howard County for articles on Shawn Adkins' body and out of Scurry County for his grandmother's house in the Dunn community.

Witnesses spotted vehicles from the Department of Public Safety and the Mitchell County S.O. at the home of Adkins' grandmother. Vehicles from the Mitchell County S.O. were also seen at the home of Billie Jean Dunn in Colorado City.

Earlier this evening, Colorado City City Manager Pete Kampfer said Dunn and Adkins had been "picked up" by law enforcement personnel. However, Adkins was not arrested.

Hundreds of law enforcement personnel and volunteers have joined searches for Hailey since she was reported missing. The missing child case has drawn national attention with Billie Jean Dunn appearing on the Nancy Grace show and missing children organizations have joined in the search.

Adkins, who lived with Billie Jean Dunn at the time of Hailey's disappearance, has been the only named suspect in the case.

Last month investigators confirmed that a memory stick with pornographic images was found in a dresser in the master bedroom of Billie Jean Dunn's home. Also, officials said pornographic images were found on a computer seized from the home of Shawn Adkins' mother in Big Spring.

Hailey was last seen Dec. 27 by Adkins, who told police she was going to spend the night with a friend. She was reported missing by her mother the next day.

Honest to God, the first time I read BD's charges, I though it said "Hindering apprehension/prostitution, a Class A misdemeanor. OMG, my eyes hurt!

OK, this makes no sense. IF they were not going to arrest Shawn but had a warrant for his body, ie..DNA, let's say..How could she be hindering an Apprehension/Prosecution? Apprehension to me usually means ARREST. Prosecution? Prosecution of what???

Now, on to the "dangerous drug" charge. Note, they say one, as in Single drug. IF it were narcotic pillS, it would be more than just one..so it sounds like they got her on ONE pill she could not explain and this SHOULD be a Felony, NOT a misdemeanor.

If they already got her on the hindering an apprehension/prosecution, then HOW can they charge her with Giving a False Report to a Police Officer? Unless they mean she gave a report about what took place reference Hailey and it was false.

IMHO, she will be out by tomorrow, strutting her stuff and all lawyered up. If they are allowing all 3 to go down as misdemeanors, her bond will probably be no more than $10K and someone will come up with a grand to get her out.

I DO hope LE found some viable evidence in the waste dump (poor Hailey) and finds even more evidence at his grandmother's house. I cannot imagine his grandmother being arrested. I would not wish any grandmother or father to be arrested Unless we were pretty sure she or he were helping out the alleged murderer.

Wrap, Billie was hindering the apprehension of DNA, photos of his body.. She obstructed their search by attempting to block access to the search area (Shawn's body). She probably also swore and signed off that he was not on her premises, thus the filing a false report. LE was certainly watching the house beforehand and knew that Shawn was inside; I think they played Billie and wanted her to formally lie so they could get her on these two charges. The pill(s) was just easy pickins once they arrested her and searched her pockets, imo...

Sadly, I think you're right about her likely bonding out on these misdemeanors.. But, it does give LE some time alone with Billie Jean and they've turned the heat way up. They can tell her they know things and found things as a result of today's searches (even if they didn't). They can tell Shawn that they got incriminating information from locked-up Billie about his role in the disappearance (even if they didn't).

Hope the LE strategy, whatever it is, pays off for Hailey...

She told the officers Shawn was not there and he was in the house. They arrested her.

They wanted to search Shawn and that means DNA or check his body parts. Maybe he is on the porn films???

They were at Grandma's house from 1:30 this afternoon and just left after dark.

I am curious. Is this the first time searching grandmas property? If yes it was a long time coming.

I understand all that but a lawyer will have a field day with it. I hope NG covers this case tomorrow night and has on her defense attorneys she drags through the mud.

I have heard drugs and drug. Either way, if they are "Dangerous" and they were benzo's or opiat's that is a FELONY. I would bet it was an oxycontin and she will be a mess. Also, remember her mother was arrested for narcotics and it was a felony? I would love to know what each had in their possession.

On another blog I heard that the local station showed Billie inside her jail cell with huge bags under her eyes and sobbing. Also, that her FB friends are gearing up to bail her out tomorrow.

Colorado City, TX - The mother of missing 13-year-old Hailey Dunn remains behind bars Thursday evening after being arrested while law enforcement attempted to carry out a search warrant.
The Mitchell County District Attorney's Office says they went to Billie Dunn's Colorado City home to carry out a search warrant on her longtime boyfriend, Shawn Adkins. During the search, law enforcement said Dunn lied to them. She was taken into custody and interrogated at the Mitchell County Law Enforcement Center Thursday evening.

Shortly before 10 p.m., KTAB's Michelle Ashworth learned Dunn had been charged with hindering apprehension or prosecution, possession of dangerous drugs and false report to a police officer.

We're told the drugs in question were prescription drugs without a proper prescription.

The search warrant that originally brought law enforcement to Dunn's home came from Howard County. The warrant was for a search of Shawn Adkins' body.

Scurry County also served a search warrant Thursday at the home of Adkins' grandmother's in Dunn, Texas.

The arrests don't seem to have any connection with Hailey's disappearance and don't immediately bring law enforcement any closer to finding the missing girl.

Billie Dunn and Shawn Adkins have both been named "persons of interest" in Hailey disappearance. Adkins is the only named suspect in the case.

Earlier this year, law enforcement revealed child pornography was discovered in connection with the case. Pornography was found in the Big Spring home of Adkins' mother as well as one a jump drive in Dunn's home. Authorities say there was child porn on a computer seized in Big Spring. Billie Dunn says investigators told her there was no child pornography discovered on the jump drive taken from her home.

Hailey reportedly disappeared from her Colorado City home on December 27, 2010.

The mother of a 13-year-old girl from West Texas reported missing nearly three months ago was arrested Thursday night and charged with obstructing justice, officials said.

Billie Jean Dunn, 33, was picked up by deputies at her Colorado City home, said Pete Kampfer, Colorado City city manager who has served as a police spokesman during the search for Dunn's daughter, middle school cheerleader Hailey Darlene Dunn.

Kampfer referred further questions to the Mitchell County Jail, where officials said Dunn was booked on misdemeanor charges of hindering apprehension and prosecution, possession of dangerous drugs and obstructing justice.

Jail officials could not elaborate on the charges, and a message left for Mitchell County Sheriff Patrick Toombs was not returned.

Dunn, who reported her daughter missing on Dec. 28, is scheduled to appear in court on Friday morning. She does not yet have an attorney, according to jail officials, and a message on her cell phone said her voicemail box was full. Her father did not immediately return a message left Thursday night.

The woman's former live-in boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, was previously named a person of interest in the case. He told police he last saw Hailey a day earlier when she told him she was going to her father's home nearby and then on to spend the night at a friend's home. She did neither. Billie Dunn said she last saw Hailey at home the night of Dec. 26.

Both Adkins and Billie Dunn have denied having any involvement in the girl's disappearance. Jail officials said Thursday night that Adkins had not been arrested, and Adkins has no listed telephone number. He had previously told The Associated Press that he would "never ever do anything to harm Hailey."

Since Hailey disappeared, more than 100 billboards featuring her picture, information about the case and a law enforcement phone number have been set up along interstates in West Texas and other states. Investigators and volunteers conducted extensive searches in surrounding fields and landfills.

Her disappearance brought anguish to Colorado City, a town of 4,500 people about 240 miles west of Dallas. Volunteers who helped in the search trekked through fields covered with shrubs and small trees, searching landfills and retracing steps already taken by police. Candlelight vigils have been held and fliers with Hailey's photo have been taped across the city.

Friends and family told investigators it was out of character for Hailey to leave for an extended time without checking in with her mother. If she had planned to stay overnight at a friend's house, Hailey left without her toothbrush, hairbrush and contact lens solution. Cash, a new iPod, and a jacket that friends said she would not leave home without were still in her room.

The girl is described as white, standing 5-foot-1, weighing 120 pounds, with hazel eyes and brown hair with blondish streaks. There is a $15,000 reward for information leading to the teen.

Well damn, I left today before any of this started and I just finished catching up. Teach me to leave!
I wonder if Shawn will be arrested just prior to Billie bonding out, that way they will have no time to talk to each other to get their stories straight.
I'm sure LE knew that Billie would lie about Shawn being at her home and that in all likelihood she'd have some kind of pills laying around. That keeps her there for them to question or for her not to talk to Shawn until tomorrow morning. I'd bet Shawn will be arrested on something tomorrow but then again, looks like I've been wrong about this case all along, shut my mouth!

What a difference a day makes! LE is not as dumb as we were thinking they were!! I must admit, I have never heard of a search warrant for a person's body before. But, it makes sense, considering the child porn that was found. I really hope that LE finally has a reason to lock SA up for a long time!!

As for BD... I can't help feeling somewhat sorry for her, and yet she has done this to herself. IF she is innocent, she should have re-taken her poly a long time ago & not have been sleeping with the one & only suspect in Hailey's disappearance! Now, it looks like LE finally has her right where she belongs!!

P.s. The one high profile case I remember where a search warrant was issued on a person's body was the second Michael Jackson molestation case.

I agree. Shawn's been under surveillance. Thinking LE could have grabbed a sig butt, a straw, a tissue or something else and may have DNA already. I think they want to compare his body characteristics against images or a description from a victim in the child porn or other possible sex crime.

Billie was arraigned, $6,500 bond. I think that means she can bail out for $650.00. She'll probably be out soon. I hope LE has something to put Shawn in the pokey as soon as Billie is released... Keep 'em apart and keep 'em guessing what the other is saying...

Wow, Billie refused to have her court appointed attorney represent her at the arraignment this morning. Stubborn and stupid, imo. Not having representation is not convincing many of her innocence, imo.

The article also says she consented to a search of her home after telling LE Shawn wasn't there; they found him there. Wonder if he was hiding in the shed? So moronic, imo. It would be laughable under other circumstances.

I noticed that too TBT. And in the video of her in " the law enforcement center" (that's what they called it in the news report, she looked very comfy and calm. She called the officer by his first name when she asked to be put "back there". Is Ms Billie Jean in denial and still thinking she is "gettin with the investigators to get some answers and some truths"???

Dunn's bond has been set at $6,000. At this time she is still behind bars. Family members tell NewsWest9 they will try to bail her out this afternoon.

BJ, do you know if she needs to come up with the full $6k to get bailed out, or just 10%? KTAB reported this morning that the bond was $6,500. The last report is $6,000. If she only needs to get 10%, guessing that wouldn't be too hard for her support system. If she needs the full amount, she could be there for a few days, imo.

I believe that she just has to come up with 10% of the bond. That might be hard for her family to come up with. Course, her mother bonded out so maybe the family has a "bond fund" for these bumps in the road.

Efforts by KTXS to obtain search warrant affidavits from Howard County were unsuccessful.
These affidavits are filed by law enforcement to obtain a warrant. Two such affidavits were filed in separate district courts Thursday to search the home of the only named suspect in the case, Shawn Adkins, and to search his body, presumably for DNA evidence.
Affidavits often contain critical information from law enforcement about the state of an investigation, and what new evidence law enforcement has procured.
Judge John G. Hyde of the 238th District Court released the following statement:
"On Thursday, March 17, Judge John Hyde authorized an evidentiary search warrant for Howard County law enforcement officers in connection with an existing criminal investigation.
The search warrant is in the possession of Howard County officers at this time and Judge Hyde declines to release any information regarding an ongoing criminal investigation." The release is signed by Cindy Hall, Court Coordinator.
Authorities were carrying out two search warrants, the other from Scurry County where Texas Rangers searched the home of Shawn Adkins' grandmother in the community of Dunn, about 14 miles north of Colorado City.
Adkins, the live-in boyfriend of Billie Dunn at the time of Hailey Dunn's disappearance, is the only named suspect in the case.
The other search warrant was for Shawn Adkins himself, which means that authorities were likely seeking a sample of Adkins' DNA and/or fingerprints.

This article quotes Sheriff Toombs; he says Billie has not been named a POI. It states Billie's bond is $6,500.

It also says that Shawn was searched, per the warrant. Toombs refuses to say what specifically they were looking for...

Just as I thought, but she hasn't lawyered up yet. Maybe she wants to see if one of these high powered attorneys will take her case.

The affidavit confirms earlier reports by KTXS that child pornography was found on a computer, and one memory stick in the home of Hailey Dunn in Colorado City. In the slack space, or the area of the computer where items had been deleted, the FBI found images of child pornography and other obscene images including adult pornography, deviant sexual behavior, and bestiality.
The affidavit also mentions that pornographic images were found on Adkins' cell phone, and in the computer of Renee Norwood in Dunn, Texas. This same home was where investigators served the warrant Thursday and took electronic devices. Another resident of that home told authorities that Shawn Adkins used their computer "all the time".
The warrant also mentions that 2 Kodak Easy Share cameras were in the home, and that pornographic images found on Adkins' phone were taken on a Kodak Easy Share camera. Investigators planned to seize the two cameras looking for more evidence.
The warrant, issued by the district judge in Scurry County, gave law enforcement the right to take cameras, cell phones, computers, printers, and other devices which may contain child pornography.
J. Bruce Flournoy, of the Garza County Sheriff's Department, issued the request. He goes on to add that pornographic images have been found on every electronic device that law enforcement has been able to search. Shawn Adkins, according to the affidavit, doesn't own a computer, and has been using friends' and relatives' computers. All of the other users of those computers, according to the affidavit, deny any knowledge of child pornography on their devices.
Another warrant was issued, out of Howard County, but the judge in that case has refused to give the search warrant affidavits to the media. That warrant is believed to have been for body of Shawn Adkins. Most likely to obtain DNA evidence.
