Thank you for updating the title of thread. One step closer to justice all the time. You can bet I am not going to miss tomorrow testimony. I wonder if family will ever take the stand for her.

OMG, Beth Karas is saying Hodi could stand up like the lawyers do and give a "presentation/statement" pleading for her life. Ryan Smith is saying she showed NO remorse when extreme cruelty was proven. So, it's possible if she shows no remorse, she could get the DP.

Hodi is a psychopath and only mimics others' emotions. I don't think she's that good of an actress to pull off the emotion of remorse without someone to mimic in the courtroom annnnnnnnnd there's nobody in the courtroom exhibiting remorse. If she can't pull it off, she's going to get the death penalty, IMO.

She can bawl for herself, but that performance may not convince these smart jurors. She hasn't been remorseful to this point at any time.

After watching her behavior on NG's show, my bet is that Hodi won't cry and beg for her life. She looked cold and disdainful.

Glad cruelty was proven. Jodi is FOS she doesn't want LIP, she would adjust well in gen pop, but on death row w/ no audience she would go insane for real.

I think she's convinced she'll win on appeal. I'm sure Wilma and the mitigator woman have convinced her she'll get off on appeal. She has such a huge ego, she'll just keep thinking she can fool everyone.

I JUST NOW got home, missed the whole damn day of court! Was SO GLAD to hear on the news that Extreme Cruelty was the verdict from the jury!

BJ I noticed when HLN played that video earlier flipped her hair. Guess she only wants it in her face when it's serving as a wall, protecting her from the TRUTH!

Did the judge deny the defenses motion to have the witness impact statement via video tape? I sure hope so.

Heard that Victim Impact Statements are first up when Court starts Thursday. If I'm not mistaken we will hear from one of the sisters and Travis' brother Steven.

Tomorrow is the last phase.... the penalty phase... at this point the jury will be deciding whether JA gets the DP or Life ... we will see Travis' family and friends give their impact stmts in person NOT videotaped and the defense will present any mitigating factors trying to sway the jury towards Life ... JA and/or her family/friends may also give stmts .... PLEASE let's not debate feelings/opinions about the DP as Travis' family is hoping for the DP ... so let's stay focused on praying for them as they enter another difficult, emotional day.

Katie is home sick from school so I will have to listen with headphones. She already heard a little bit about it as I was listening to the verdict of "proven". She asked some questions that I felt I could answer. Katie said "wow she made a really bad choice" (out of the mouths of babes as they say).

On Thursday, the jurors will hear from Alexander’s friends and family as they make “victim impact statements,” and then, in what is referred to as the mitigation phase, Arias’ defense team will present evidence and testimony that they hope will convince the jury to spare Arias’ life.

Arias will address the jury on Monday, and the life-or-death decision could be in the jury’s hands by the end of the day Monday.

Jodi Arias's former cellmate, Kimberly Ross and Patti, a childhood friend, will testify for Jodi in this phase of the trial. What about Jodi's mother? Wouldn't you think she would plead for her daughter's life?

What would mom say? "Jodi has always had mental problems... I need her back home so I can beat her better this time."

I noticed and like it, thanks!, because it lets me know when it starts without having to constantly check.

I am glad you knew it was there. I have the portal up in 1 window and the forum up in another. I expect the Penalty phase to be the best part of this whole trial.

I found out it was there a couple days ago when court was over for the day and it started screeching at me. LOL

I pull the tab for the trial over and away from my other tabs>>>>>>>> so I have a split screen. One small screen for the trial and the other small screen for VH, Facebook tabs, etc. I like seeing them both at the same time instead of having to click back and forth between the tabs. Not sure if that's what you are doing LM.

Because I am so blind I have to keep it full screen. I just switch between the tabs.

Jodi Arias: Hell Hath No Fury 05/16/2013

PHOENIX (AP) – Attorneys for Jodi Arias asked to step down from the case after their client was convicted of first-degree murder, but a judge denied the request, according to court minutes obtained Thursday.

Details about the motion were sealed, but legal experts said Arias complicated efforts for her defense when she gave an interview to Fox affiliate KSAZ minutes after her conviction last week saying she preferred death over life in prison.

“I believe death is the ultimate freedom, and I’d rather have my freedom as soon as I can get it,” Arias said.
Arias will return to court Thursday for the final phase of her trial as the same jury that convicted her weighs whether the former waitress should be sentenced to life in prison or death.

Her attorneys must convince jurors she shouldn’t be executed. But during a closed-door meeting with the judge on Tuesday, Kirk Nurmi and Jennifer Willmott sought permission to withdraw from the case, the minutes state.
Los Angeles-area criminal defense lawyer Mark Geragos said Arias’ attorneys have a conflict of interest with their efforts to keep their client off death row and Arias’ assertion that she’d rather die for her crime.

“It’s not highly unusual,” he said. “There are cases where defendants make decisions that they’re better off on death row, but that puts the lawyer in a conflicted position. You’ve got a duty as a lawyer to bring the conflict of interest to the courts and disclose it.”

Added Phoenix criminal defense lawyer Julio Laboy: “It would be something I would do in my major felony cases if I found that a client was actually working against me and not working with her defense.”

Arias cannot choose the death penalty. It’s up to the jury to recommend a sentence.

On Wednesday, the panel took less than three hours to determine that Arias should be eligible for death in the killing of her one-time lover after prosecutors proved the murder was especially cruel and heinous.

Arias, 32, acknowledged killing Travis Alexander on June 4, 2008, at his suburban Phoenix home after a day of sex. She initially denied any involvement then later blamed the attack on masked intruders. Two years after her arrest, she settled on self-defense.

On Thursday, the penalty phase of her trial begins. Prosecutors will call Alexander’s family and others to testify in an effort to convince the panel that Arias should face the ultimate punishment.

Arias’ defense lawyers will have her family members testify, and likely others who have known her over the years, in an attempt to gain sympathy from jurors to save her life. It’s not yet known if Arias will testify.

Arias showed no emotion Wednesday after the jury returned a decision that was widely expected given the violent nature of the killing. She slashed Alexander’s throat, stabbed him in the heart and shot him in the forehead.

The victim suffered nearly 30 knife wounds in what prosecutors described as an attack fueled by jealous rage after Alexander wanted to end his affair with Arias and prepared to take a trip to Mexico with another woman.

Am so GLAD that Travis' family w/be able to look that cold hearted butcherer straight in those dead, cold eyes and tell her what they think of her. I cannot imagine a "friend" from so long ago would have an impact on the jury in Hodi's favor. If I were her mother, I think I would Have to speak for her even though I know she is toast.

WTH? The judge just read off a bunch of points that are mitigating factors for - I thought that was up to the defense lawyers to do?
