An interview with Tracy McLaughlin, one of Padilla's associates tasked with staying inside the Anthony home to keep an eye on Casey Anthony.

When Casey Anthony came home from jail the first time, her jovial demeanor seemed a bit odd to McLaughlin, she told a sheriff's detective and FBI agent on Sept. 19.

Asked what that homecoming was like, McLaughlin replied, "Just the strangeness of everything … She comes in happy as can be. Hey, hi, gives me a big hug….not a word about Caylee. Nothing."

Casey Anthony said she wanted a shower and talked about what she wanted for dinner.

"I'm thinking, she's not even upset. Not a word about her daughter," McLaughlin said.

George and Cindy Anthony didn't say anything either.

"It' was just unbelievable," she said. "It was like she'd gone to Iraq or something and just got back. So there's still nothing about Caylee."

As McLaughlin kept Casey Anthony by her side at all times, she told detectives, her behavior continued to be striking.

"She'll tell a story and she has such a belief in herself. She has no grasp on reality. This is where her problem is. She has no grasp."

McLaughlin gave one scenario about Casey Anthony's quest for the limelight: McLaughlin said she would comment on a photo about Caylee, but Casey would turn the conversation onto herself.

"It was like it was competition. She wanted the limelight. It was sad. You couldn't talk about anything else. It just had to be her."

Asked about the first car ride to defense attorney Jose Baez's office, McLaughlin said, Casey Anthony talked about herself. "She didn't talk about Caylee at all."

She talked about signing photos of herself for money, and even mentioned going on a radio show.

"It's all fun and games for her."

Padilla asked Lee Anthony if his sister took any drugs. "[Lee Anthony] got a little perturbed about it," Padilla said. He did not elaborate on whether Lee Anthony answered to the question.

"This is the kind of nut I didn't need to talk to," Padilla said of Lee Anthony. "There were times when it just didn't ring that he was being on the level with us."

Padilla told investigators Casey Anthony would "wiggle her little butt coming out of that attorney's office." He said her demeanor never changed since she left the jail.

Padilla said Casey Anthony told fellow bounty hunter Rob Dick that she didn't realize she was going to be a celebrity, but then realized how newsworthy she had become.

"Maybe I should take pictures, autograph them and sell them," Padilla said Casey Anthony had told Dick. "I could make a lot of money."

When California bounty hunter Leonard Padilla questioned Casey's story about how Caylee disappeared with 'Zanny the nanny,' in an attempt to try to find Caylee, Casey showed the only emotion Tracy had ever witnessed from her.

"'You can't tell me what happened. You weren't there,'" McLaughlin described Casey saying. "'You don’t know what happened. You need to leave!"

McLaughlin said the most disturbing reaction she witnessed from Casey was the day Eyewitness News reported that air samples showed signs of decomposition in the trunk of Casey's car.

"They said, 'Yeah, the samples came back, decomposition, and she said, looked at the TV and goes, 'A lot of people had access to that car,'" McLaughlin told investigators.

The next day, McLaughlin says, Casey elaborated and said that her ex-fiance, Jesse Grund, also had keys to her car. Then, McLaughlin said, Baez was trying to steer Tracy and the Padilla crew in Jesse's direction, but they weren't buying into it.

Casey's defense team tried to stop the release of the tapes, claiming Padilla and his associated were part of Casey's defense team, but the judge denied that request.

lisette wrote:I just finished listening to Tracy McLaughlin's interview and, maybe it was because she was nervous or something, but her incessant giggling reminded me so much of Lee's desposition...(I hate to say it)..She gave some valuable insight into KC and the family, but I do wish she had come across as a little bit more serious.
