I would bet money that if that little baby don't turn up soon LE will press murder charges on her. She admitted in writing that she killed him. What she wrote was very graphic. I would love for the baby to be found alive but my feeling is he is not.

An eerily similar story has emerged.

"I think what they've done is wrong. They've manipulated the system and lied and I wouldn't mind seeing them face charges," said Jack Smith's stepson, Travis Andrews Warford.

Warford is the biological father of Jack Smith's Granddaughter, Hannah. Warford claims the Smiths offered him money to sign over his custodial rights.

"Three different occasions over a year and a half in between, the man offered me money to get out of his life, leave him alone and let him have my little girl, period. I'll put my hand on any bible in any court in the United States and swear to it," said Warford.

But Tammi Smith replied, "Why would we offer him money, they revoked his rights?"

The Smiths were awarded legal custody of Hannah. But Travis, who has spend time in jail, says he was never alerted that the Smiths were headed to court.

"I'm angry. And the first chance that I have any opportunity, I will do as much as I can to gain not only visitation, but ultimately custody of my daughter," said Warford.

The Smiths deny all of Warford's claims.

WEll, well well, Another one. Just reading up on all the "cast of characters". I guessed before I got to the part where Elizabeth was in foster homes...how sad. And I guessed that the greiving father had been in some kind of trouble..he was too innocent looking. Like he just stepped off The Good Ship Lollypop.
The Smiths now they are an interesting couple. They have money so why would they get involved with all this tv and appearing on all these shows? Now we have Travis. For some reason I see Ryan ONeals son when I hear about Travis. A whiner.

I kind of get what Sassy said about whomever has the baby just keeping him. Heck I can't see that little dear properly kept with any of these nuts.

Grandpa is the only one that appears to have a handle on everything but then I think...he raised one of Elizabeths parents and that didn't turn out too good. :roll:

I see Casey Anthony in this one. I pray that little Gabriel is alive but its hard to call. 50/50.

Tempe police continue to search for a missing toddler, who was kidnapped by his own mother. Meanwhile, the Scottsdale couple who were trying to adopt the 8 month-old boy are now person's of interest in the case.

On Friday, the couple spent several hours at the Tempe police station answering questions and even taking a polygraph test.

CBS 5 interviewed Elizabeth Johnson, from jail by phone. From the beginning of the conversation, Elizabeth is vague regarding whether or not she believes that Gabriel Johnson is alive or dead.

Gabriel Johnson, has been missing since December 26, 2009. The interviewer began by questioning her regarding her text message to Logan McQueary, Gabriel Johnson’s father. He asked her if she was aware of the seriousness of the situation she is in. Her responses continued to be vague throughout the interview.

He specifically asked if she was aware that because no one knows where Gabriel Johnson is, and since she said that she killed him, she essentially could face murder charges. She continued to state that she wasn’t aware of the seriousness of what she was saying, or texting at the time but is aware of it now. She described herself as being emotionally a wreck and completely out of her mind at the time she sent the text messages stating she killed Gabriel.

Those words may come back to haunt her as a prosecutor could state that she was ‘emotionally a wreck and completely out of her mind’ and had killed her son. Elizabeth has admitted, in this interview, to sending the text messages from her phone, which , should the case go to a jury trial for murder, will work against her.

Exactly what evidence Elizabeth Johnson offered that led authorities to Nashville is still unclear. But it was enough to have FBI agents rush to a house in Nashville, a city to which her friends say Elizabeth has never been.
"We went, knocked on the door, and interviewed the occupants and have been unable at this point to locate the child," said FBI Special Agent Keith Moss.
Unfortunately, that search was just the latest in a growing list of dead ends.
But as CBS5 reported Thursday night, Tammi and Jack Smith, the couple who tried to adopt Gabriel and who have been named as persons of interest in his disappearance, used to live in Nashville.
And late Friday night, Tammi Smith told CBS5 she knew what the Nashville search was all about. It was the home of a friend of hers, Janet Morris, who she asked to counsel Elizabeth Johnson about what she could face legally if she tried to disappear with Gabriel.
"I called (Elizabeth) and said 'look, you've got to call this girl Janet,' and so Janet basically, she called her and as far as I know, Janet told her the same thing that we've been telling her and begged her to come back. 'And if you don't come back, you could be facing these charges and these charges,'" said Tammi Smith.
Tammi Smith also explained a post on her Facebook page, where she asked people to pray for Elizabeth because the mother had found 'undercover' help in Texas to change her's and Gabriel's identities. Smith took Elizabeth's comments to mean that she had found a women's shelter that provided "extra" and illegal services.
All of these connections have FBI agents in Nashville very active in the search.
"As leads develop to the area, Tammi Smith is one individual who formerly resided in Nashville. As leads are developed by the Phoenix field offices, the Miami field offices, we're following up on those," said Special Agent Moss.
Friday, the Smiths agreed to take polygraph tests to prove they have no knowledge of where Gabriel may be. The results of those tests have not been released, but the Smiths remain resolute.
"There would be nothing that they could charge us with because we have done nothing we've done everything that the police have asked us," Tammi Smith said.
But investigators still believe the Smiths know more than they are telling.
Elizabeth Johnson's grandfather, Bob Johnson, even felt the Smiths were speaking in code to her when we recorded a group phonecall including the Smith's and Elizabeth from jail in Miami.
What is clear is that the Smiths, even then, were trying to clear their names.
"Did we try really hard to get you back here?" asked Tammi Smith. "Yes," replied Elizabeth Johnson. "And did we offer to get you an attorney and help you to keep custody?" Smith asked. "Yeah," said Johnson.
Elizabeth did lie about the location of her car several times during the call.
After the polygraph tests Friday, investigators hope to soon know whether the Smiths are lying now.

The Smith's know more than they are letting on, IMO. I have seen parents on tv that were taken in by an adoption scam, these people are still upset after a year has passed and more. Why is Mrs. Smith smiling all of the time? What does she know that LE does not know.?? If I had spent three weeks falling in love with a baby, planning our new life together, I would be devastated to think he was murdered, missing, cold or hungry. I just think the Smith's know where he is, if he is alive.

Whatever the Smiths' failings are, I am glad that they have come forward with anything and everything that might be a clue to the baby's whereabouts. I think that I would do the same thing in their position for the sake of the baby. Maybe the reason that they are not so upset is the fact that they just distanced themselves from the parents and the baby earlier on when it became apparent the adoption would never go through. There is also the chance that they enjoy the limelight, but even so, the clues that they thought of, and forwarded to LE because of some contact with the mother could possibly lead to the safe return of the baby. If they are trying to hoodwink everybody, they won't succeed. A glaring coincidence is all the reported sightings of the baby in the same state from which they come. Marc Class has really questioned their involvement strongly and has doubted their veracity publicly. He is usually right in what he says, so maybe I give too much benefit of the doubt myself regarding these people.

Elizabeth called Logan and told him that she had killed the baby.
I want to know when and where during her trip that this call took place. I think this might be an important detail that could help locate Gabriel's body if he's dead.
Did anyone in San Antonio actually see her there with the baby? (Hotel staff, bus station)

The Smith's stated that there's GPS on her car. This will log a history of her trip.

I heard that there is video of her sitting in her car for 5 minutes exiting with a backpack and walking to the bus station.
Could his body have been crammed into the backpack? Did she have it with her when she was arrested?

Those are excellent points and questions. I too would like them to release her cell phone logs as evidence. I think LE will release a lot of this stuff if they charge Elizabeth with murder. That baby boy better turn up or that is exactly what is going to happen.

Good points NightSpinR. Was there in fact a cell phone call to Logan from Elizabeth about her saying she killed their son? I thought I read and heard that she sent him a text and that is when Logan reported it to LE. I also thought I remember reading/hearing and I think it was from the Smith's that there was witnesses saying they saw the baby Alive a day after that text to Logan was sent. Does anyone remember the Smith's saying that?

IMO, there are only 2 scenarios here... The Smith's are lying and are doing a damed good job of looking innocent ... or The Biatch killed her baby and we have yet another CASEY Anthony!!!

Police say mother Elizabeth Johnson is not cooperating with authorities who are working with the FBI in at least four states to find her baby, Gabriel.

"Just tell me where he's at," said Gabriel's father, Logan McQueary.

McQueary was granted custody after Johnson didn't show up for a custodial court hearing and allegedly fled the state with the child.

He has made many public appeals to find the 8-month-old, but court documents now reveal he may not be Gabriel's biological father.

In her petition for custody on Dec. 14, Johnson wrote that there were "two potential fathers," and requested that both McQueary and another man, Craig Cherry, take paternity tests.

Cherry said he had no comment on the case when reached by phone Sunday.

"If they're looking for a place for Gabriel to go, we have the father, and the father wants his baby boy back," said Sgt. Steve Carbajal. "That's the bottom line of this whole case."

In court documents, Johnson said she feared McQueary would kidnap the baby and leave the state.

Three days earlier, McQuary filed for custody, saying he feared Johnson would kidnap the baby, and that she was neglectful and unstable.

In the statement, McQueary wrote that Johnson would leave Gabriel crying in his crib for hours without changing his diaper, and that she kicked McQueary out of their apartment, saying, "Take that damn baby with you."

According to documents, he had previously filed a restraining order against her, after he said she trashed their Tempe apartment, causing thousands of dollars in damage.

A protective order was later dismissed when the couple got back together.

On Dec. 14, McQueary wrote in his complaint that Johnson hid the baby at a friend's house until police finally found the boy at 3:30 in the morning.

That's when Johnson allegedly told him she wanted to give Gabriel up for adoption to another couple, the Smiths, who are now persons of interest in the case.

"She called me on the phone and said, you need to sign these papers," said McQueary. "I said, 'What papers,' and she said, 'I already gave them to the people that are going to adopt him.'"

The Smiths have been making regular appearances on news programs and recently took polygraph tests. Police have not released the results of those tests.

"We should have been persons of interest from day one," said Jack Smith. "I mean, we are persons of interest. We were probably the last people to see Gabriel."

Though police say they are confident the baby is alive, McQueary said in his statement that Johnson called him after she disappeared with the boy, saying she was planning to leave the country, and that she would tell him where Gabriel's "blue" dead body was once she had crossed the border.

McQueary also said she texted him around that time period, saying she had killed the baby.

Johnson later recanted and said she gave Gabriel to a random couple she met at a San Antonio park.

Results from a polygraph test can be “deceptive,” “truthful” or “inconclusive,” Carbajal said. In this case, the results came back inconclusive.

“It doesn’t really clear things up,” Carbajal said of the Smiths’ polygraph results. “We’re still investigating and asking for leads and looking at everything.”

I have the same feelings as you do about them. I think they got fed up and knew they wouldn't get to adopt the child and just moved on until this happened.

I think they first began the Media thing with the intent to manipulate the news coverage with an agenda all their own. Whatever that was who knows, (casting the BIO dad in a bad light, still hoping Gabriel will be returned to their care, covering for Elizabeth while the so call underground made the baby disappear)
I think the plan rocketed out of their control real quick!

I don't blame the Smiths for reaching out to who they saw as a troubled young mother. I think the large majority of us here at VH would have done the very same thing given the circumstance. Unfortunately as with all stories there are two sides. I think Elizabeth saw the Smiths as her easy way out and she told them what she needed to in order to gain their confidence. I think the Smiths then used their resources in ways they had not planned and thats why they are where they are today...under the scrutinizing eyes of LE.

I really think Elizabeth did something bad to baby Gabriel. I don't think she would sit in the clink to "protect" anybody.

I think he is dead and they just have not found his body yet and maybe never will. She traveled too far and too fast and I think that little guy was placed in a dumpster somewhere along her route and is long gone. Sad but true.

She tells nothing because there is nothing good to tell.

IDK if I believe the Smith's! I think they could have easily given Elizabeth plenty of $$ to run off with the baby, have Elizabeth give the baby to a friend/Family member of theirs from TN and thought they could get away with it until this story made headline News and went National! I think they believed everything that came out of that lying twits mouth and they truly thought the baby was in danger if given to Logan. I think they now don't know what to do, and are scared of what they might face when and if it is revealed that they know where the baby is. Did you see how their entire mood changed last night on NG, they seemed more scared and less "smiley" then before.

Good points, Mommy. As far as the attitude change, I have observed in the past that what is posted here on VH comes up on NG within hours or a day. I think they read our posts! Anyway, it was originally pointed out here on VH by other members asking why are they smiling a bit too much and acting a bit too happy over this serious incident.

I don't think the Smiths are being honest. Too much hand fidgeting going on and lots of looks between them that stop the other one in mid-sentence. JMO I hope they are lying about their involvement because I think that might mean the baby is still alive somewhere and safe.

Right TerryRose, and then yesterday they seemed less chipper and almost looked scared. I am sure having their Poly's come back as inconclusive put a little damper on their emotions.

Rpt: Potential Adoptive Couple named Persons of Interest may take 2nd polygraph

A commander with the Tempe Police department investigating the alleged kidnapping of 8 month old Gabriel Johnson say they may ask 2 persons of interest to re-take polygraph tests. Jack and Tammi Smith were named persons of interest last week, and investigators maintain that the couple has information they aren’t sharing with law enforcement.

Tammi and Jack Smith voluntarily took polygraph examinations with Tempe police last Friday. The results? Inconclusive. At a press conference yesterday, authorities noted that the polygraph can have 3 different results: truthful, deceptive, or inconclusive. Another test would be administered in order to get a more conclusive result.

History of bi-polar disorder?

In court documents filed last month, Gabriel’s father Logan McQueary stated he believes Gabriel’s mother suffers from bi-polar disorder. Logan McQueary’s father, Frank McQueary also told the Associated Press that he and his son have long believed that Elizabeth Johnson has undiagnosed bi-polar disorder but that she always refused to seek treatment. There has been no confirmation that Johnson suffers from bi-polar disorder.

Police are still working to determine how Elizabeth Johnson still had a little less then $500 on her when she was arrested at a Miami youth hostel December 30. When Johnson began the trip, police say she had about $1200 dollars saved up and it appeared she had been planning to leave. Reports are Johnson posted multiple listings on craigslist trying to raise money, allegedly sold her dogs, took on a roommate who paid Johnson rent, and also reportedly offered to give away baby clothes. There’s also the shocking report from KPHO that Gabriel’s collapsible crib was tossed in Johnson’s shed upside down. If true, clearly Elizabeth Johnson had no intention of bringing baby Gabriel back to Arizona.

There have been multiple reports floating around that Logan McQueary is not the father of baby Gabriel. In court documents in early December, Elizabeth Johnson claimed that McQueary was 1 of 2 men who could be the father of Gabriel, but that McQueary’s name was on the birth certificate. Just a couple days later, both Johnson and McQueary appeared at a paternity judgment hearing where the court found that Logan McQueary is the natural father of Gabriel Johnson.
