Does anyone else think Jodi thought Matt would kill Travis for her? Jodi told Matt the stories about Travis hitting her, breaking her finger, and how she was suicidal because of him. She told Matt she couldn't get away from Travis. Then she asked Matt about his gun. She either wanted to use Matt's gun to kill Travis or thought Matt would try to save her from abusive Travis.

Looks like Marissa hasn't had a trial yet?

What is going wrong with celebrity psychologists who attach themselves to women's death penalty trials? During the past few weeks, three psychologists have ruined a murder victim's reputation or provided financial support to the murderer's family. They also ruined their own reputations by latching on to the Jodi Arias death penalty trial in Phoenix, Ariz. According to an April 5 Huffington Post article, psychologist Alyce LaViolette called the victim “the perpetrator” and a domestic abuser. Her defense testimony wrapped up on Friday. Next week, she faces a fiery cross-examination by prosecutor Juan Martinez.

Dr. Richard Samuels was the first defense psychologist. He testified in hopes of keeping Arias off death row by diagnosing Arias with PTSD. Martinez ripped his testimony to shreds during a brutal cross-examination.

The latest shock therapy came from former Casey Anthony blogger and CBS Big Brother researcher, Chris Stark. In an April 5 twitter post, Stark revealed that Dr. Phil's production company has been helping the Arias family with living expenses, hotel, food and travel. This has apparently gone on for the last 94 days.

Dr. Phil involved himself in the Casey Anthony murder trial, too. He handed $600,000 over to a nonprofit fund created by her parents. This caused many to suspect the contribution was a payoff for Casey family appearances on his television show. According to an April 6 article in Non Profit Quarterly, using the nonprofit funds to help to Anthony's defense would have violated Florida law. Anthony is the young mother who was acquitted of killing her four-year-old daughter and lying about it for months afterward.

Those who follow the Arias trial initially had open minds about the defense psychologists, both of whom appeared to have grand qualifications. Both behaviorists presented incredibly flawed and impeachable testimony. Dr. Samuels attempted to "diagnose" Arias with PTSD and dissociative amnesia. In the cross examination Martinez forced Samuels to admit he was fined thirteen years ago for conflict of interest in a child custody case.

The prosecutor also forced Samuels to admit he administered psychological tests to Arias while she was still lying and blaming ninjas for the murder. Samuels decided not to retest her after he became aware of her lying. He also fumbled through sloppy paperwork, failed to bring vital evidence to court and modified test results. Samuels also raised eyebrows when he admitted to buying a book for Arias while he was "assessing" her mental condition. The book title is "Your Erroneous Zones." Such gifts are prohibited when a psychologist is supposed to assess a defendant.

LaViolette arrived with many fans and a grand reputation as a domestic violence expert. Her testimony quickly deteriorated into rambling homilies and irrelevant anecdotes. She quickly established that she focuses on men as the perpetrators in domestic violence situations. She managed to put a domestic violence twist to everything Arias said and did, including committing murder and other disturbing acts. With little factual support besides Arias's own statements, LaViolette shocked trial watchers by blurting out that Alexander "the perpetrator" of his own murder. She has since garnered hundreds of negative reviews for her best selling book at Amazon.com. One reviewer, MLujan summed up increasingly negative opinions of LaViolette,

"I cannot believe people would pay $50 to read something from a woman that can't see who the real victim in a relationship is. She's destroying the reputation of a dead man for $300/hour. She should never be able to sell another book about domestic violence again."

Arias admits to murdering her ex-boyfriend, Travis Alexander on June 4, 2008. She slashed and stabbed him 29 times, nearly decapitating him. She shot him in the head and cleaned up the crime scene. She removed or destroyed evidence and left her victim’s body to decompose until his roommates found him five days later. She immediately drove to Utah to visit another man. She went home to California and moved on with her life, even attending Alexander’s memorial and sending flowers to his grandmother. California police arrested her over a month later.

Over the years since her arrest, Arias told three completely different stories about the murder, first denying she was present, and then blaming people who dressed like ninjas. She finally admitted she killed Alexander, but claims that Alexander was abusive and that she acted in self-defense.

Arias attempted to plead guilty (PDF) to second degree murder, but she threatened to destroy Alexander’s reputation if she did not get her way. The prosecution refused, and her defense used two psychologists to carry out her threat.

Prosecutor Juan Martinez has a 14-0 conviction record that includes the only other woman who sits on Arizona's death row. He carried out his threat to be a highly effective voice for the victim. LaViolette faces more cross-examination by Martinez on Monday.

A third ambitious psychologist now hurts Alexander’s family. The family has struggled financially as they have been present for every day of the trial. Now they know that Dr. Phil chose to help the murderer's family instead.

There are many reasons why more people pay close attention to the Jodi Arias trial every day. A major outcome is that psychologist “experts” will face audiences that are far more skeptical. Behavioral scientists will have to show more science and less behavior when they make judgments and assessments.

Many trial watchers describe the Jodi Arias trial situation as murdering the victim twice. Jodi Arias brutally stabbed and shot Travis Alexander to death, but murdered him again with expert defense psychologists who killed his reputation and character. His family suffers more knowing that a third celebrity psychologist has been supporting the murderer’s family

Many are already speculating about Jodi Arias and a media interview. Since I'm fairly well-versed on the subject of media relations in the Arizona prison system, I thought I'd share some info. While the networks are certainly fighting over Jodi, there may never be an interview. If she is sentenced to death she will be immediately whisked away to be booked into prison, where media interviews are not granted. Arizona prison inmates can not speak on camera or even by phone to the media. In jail media interviews are granted based on the inmate's discretion. But again if she is found guilty she will only have a short window prior to sentencing to speak. And any media tour will certainly be short-lived once she is transferred to prison where the spotlight will fade. This is all dependent on a conviction. Also, if convicted she can not profit from her crime in anyway or write a book. Jodi did not sell her story to me or anyone. No profits from my project will go to her or her family. I am writing a journalistic account of her story based on interviews, police reports and the trial.

Dr. Phil McGraw wants to make one thing perfectly clear – he's not paying for Jodi Arias's family's housing during her trial.

"Rumors that we're paying for Arias family house etc... are absolutely untrue," he Tweeted on Saturday night.

"I've never met the Arias family, and neither I, nor my ... production company – has paid or promised them anything. Robin and I are praying for the Alexander family," the message reads in full.

The accusations stem from a Tweet by Chris Stark, a "former BB Blogger & Casey Anthony Blogger" and "Paid Researcher."

Then in September 2011, McGraw informed viewers the interview was being done in return for a donation to Caylee's Fund.

"The couple will derive no income from Caylee's Fund," McGraw said, explaining that the charity is "intending to focus on promoting processes to educate the public about – and advocate for grandparents' rights."

"I had a dream last night that two people were charged in the case of Travis Alexander. One person was charged with murder, and one was charged with conspiracy. The one charged with murder was in custody, and the one charged with conspiracy was not yet arrested on some contingency having to do with legal matters in some jurisdiction, like FBI or something. I was riding in someone`s yellow truck when I got the call."

Besides the fact that she is a lying, murdering lunatic, I do think she weaves some bits of truth into her lies. Like a lot of others, I have always been more than suspicious of the last person she visited before heading to Mesa (Matt). For some reason I feel like he knew exactly what she was heading to Mesa to do and may have even shown her how to use the gun. She has SOMETHING on that guy because people don't go around forging documents and lying for ex-girlfriends in their murder trial for no reason. I'm not sure what is up with that guy.....but something is definitely keeping him hidden and quiet as a little mouse.

I'm putting my faith in what People Magazine says. They don't have a dog in the fight and have no reason to lie. Dr Phil says that he and his producers have never contacted the Arias family. I'm calling BS!

Alyce says "Mr. Martinez" before or after every question she answers. ANNOYING!
She also seem extremely agitated in her answers. Adding things like "Out of Context, Misrepresenting, Implying, Mis-Characterization" and is having issues with just answering YES or NO.

Alyce is reading 18 pages of text and instant messages starting at the back and reading forward, searching for things that Travis said that were flirtatious. Says yes she believes he was because she read certain instances in those messages.
Martinez then asked "You believe that Mr. Alexander was flirtatious based on what you've read, but fail to believe that Mr. Alexander was extremely fearful of the defendant because of her stalking behavior also discussed in those messages?"
Alyce tries explaining why she doesn't believe Travis was scared, because of other things he said and did. Martinez wants her to focus on the 18 pages of messages not other information she's been told. (Told by Jodi no doubt).
He asked her to explain why there are things she picked out of those text to believe and others she chose not to believe.
The Judge interrupts the cross to recess for lunch. Alyce may need a shot of alcohol added to her afternoon tea.
