As much as I liked Jeff Ashton, he laughed too much and the jurors saw that as the state laughing at the "little guy" defense lawyer. (IMO) It made Jeff seem cocky.

Sam, I didn't think so at the time but in reflection I do think Ashton was too confident and unfortunately it showed at times as being cocky. Putting myself into the juror's seat I can see thinking that. Of course that would be the only place I'd agree w/ that jury. JMOO.

He was 20 years older than Jodi. She was 20 when she met him, and he was 40. He's 52 now. Maybe he didn't want his son embarrassed by seeing him.

First he ruined her whole image as being urged by Travis to have anal sex when he stated that they had anal sex "a few times." then he said that before Jodi left for that last trip to see Travis she called him several times and asked for "gas cans."

Either she did not want to have to stop for gas on her trip, or she planned on burning Travis's house down after the fact. Either way points to premeditation.

The trial is still going on, but they are currently showing the state seal, because Gus refused to give the name of whoever was in the car with him when he got a phone call from Chris Hughes asking if he was going to testify for Jodi. The judge asked him to write the name down and it would be under seal, but he refused that also. So she asked everyone to leave the courtroom, and cameras be turned off so they could finish his interrogation without the public seeing.

Am watching NG & they are saying the same thing you, Sam, said about the gas cans. Premediation and/or burning down the house. They are saying that does not look good for JA and this defense witness backfired. Also saying she has a gf in jail? (could not care less about the gf..this is NOT "bombshell"). That's as much as I know.....

I wonder if the defense didn't know about the "picture taking in the shower". I watched a clip on Dr. Drew (that was a good show w/some other dude that's dated her and he was brutally honest) and the look on the female defense attorney's face when the ex talked about the shower pics was priceless.

So, from what I am gathering..she bought a house w/this dude that is 22 years older who has a son..they were each paying their share of the bills..she gets a job w/that company where Travis worked, starts cheating on the poor schlub, stops paying any bills, converts to Mormonism, tells him no more sex, bla bla bla, moves out and is calling him for gas cans???

Ex-boyfriend: Arias changed dramatically

In testimony Tuesday, Jodi Arias’ former boyfriend said she began to change dramatically after she started working for Prepaid Legal, the same company that employed her ex-lover Travis Alexander.

Arias is on trial for killing Alexander, who was brutally murdered. On Tuesday, Darryl Brewer testified he began a romantic relationship with Arias in 2003. They even bought a house together in Palm Desert, California, in June 2005.

Before the 52-year-old took the stand, Judge Sherry Stephens ordered that Brewer’s face could not be shown on camera. So the public only saw video of his hands and heard his voice during testimony.

Brewer testified that soon after being introduced to Prepaid Legal in the spring of 2006, Arias began to explore the Mormon religion. Brewer testified that the relationship started to sour in the summer of 2006. And in the fall of that same year, she told Brewer they had to stop having sex, because she was saving herself for her future husband. Around this time, Arias also got breast implants, according to Brewer.

Brewer also said Arias became more irresponsible with her finances after she began working for Prepaid Legal. He said she stopped paying some of their household bills.

Brewer told jurors the relationship effectively came to an end in December 2006, when he moved to Monterey, California, to be closer to his son from another relationship. He said he and Arias stayed friends and would even talk on the phone.

Arias stopped by Brewer’s house near Monterey on June 3, 2008, the day before Alexander was killed. Arias asked him if she could use his gas cans, because she needed them for a long road trip. Brewer said he never got the gas cans back. (Reminds me of TMLS)

During cross-examination, prosecutor Juan Martinez asked Brewer if he got a phone call from Arias shortly after Alexander’s death, where she expressed concern over not having an alibi. Brewer said she did not say anything about an alibi, but did express concern over her friend’s death.

In a dramatic moment, defense attorney Kirk Nurmi fired a series of questions at Brewer asking him whether he ever called Arias a series of explicit sexual names including “whore.” Nurmi also asked Brewer if he had ever dressed her up in pigtails and engaged in violent sexual acts with her. Brewer said no to every one of these questions, drawing a stark contrast between his relationship with Arias, and what jurors have heard about Alexander’s relationship with Arias.

After Brewer finished testifying, Stephens adjourned the jury for the day and continued the prosecutorial misconduct hearing that began Monday. Nurmi called Gus Searcy back to the witness stand. Searcy is an executive with Legal Shield, which used to be known as Prepaid Legal, the company that employed both Travis Alexander and Jodi Arias.

Searcy testified Monday that Chris Hughes, a friend of Arias and Alexander, talked to him before the trial about why he was on the defense's witness list. Hughes allegedly told Searcy that defense attorney Nurmi was a snake for all the sneaky things he had done in the Arias case.

Tuesday afternoon, Martinez asked Searcy who was the passenger in the car when he talked Hughes on the phone. Searcy refused to disclose who was in the car. He was so adamant about not telling the court who was in the car, he asked Stephens what would happen if he invoked the Fifth Amendment. Stephens ordered the cameras to be shut off, ordered the spectators out of the courtroom and called for a special proceedings behind closed doors.

Jodi Arias Trial: Boobs, Anal Sex Dominate Day 10

Day 10 of Jodi Arias' first-degree murder trial in Phoenix, Ariz., highlighted some of the defendant's sexual preferences and a boob job she got prior to meeting the man she is accused of killing.

Testimony regarding Arias' sex life and breast surgery was delivered by her ex-boyfriend, Darryl Brewer, a 52-year-old divorcee with a teenage son. Brewer testified he met Arias in 2001, when she was about 22, and dated her for about four years. They were in love, he said.

Maricopa County prosecutor Juan Martinez asked Brewer whether he had told investigators that Arias "was pretty aggressive during sex." Brewer said he didn't recall the statement, but acknowledged having anal sex with Arias when they were dating. He said he couldn't remember how many times they did so.

The testimony showed that Arias was no stranger to anal sex before she met murder victim Travis Alexander.

Arias, a 32-year-old photographer, is accused of shooting Alexander in the face, stabbing him 27 times and slitting his throat from ear to ear in the shower of his Mesa apartment on June 4, 2008. She has pleaded not guilty to murder, contending she was a victim of domestic violence and killed Alexander in self-defense. Prosecutors allege Arias was jealous and did not want Alexander to see other women.

Brewer said he and Arias purchased a house together in 2005, in Palm Desert, Calif. Brewer said they had discussed marriage, but he was not ready to commit, given his recent divorce. Around that time, Brewer said, Arias had breast surgery.

"You told people she obtained breast implants to fit in with your crowd?" Martinez said.

"[I] don't remember telling people she got breast implants," Brewer replied.

Brewer testified that he never saw Arias act jealous or show a violent temper. Brewer said he did, however, believe that Arias had taken photos of him, without his consent, while he was in the nude, sleeping and in the shower.

Brewer said that as the couple's relationship deteriorated, Arias began acting differently. During the fall of 2006, they stopped having sexual relations "because she was saving herself for marriage," Brewer testified. Their house was foreclosed in 2007 and Arias moved to Arizona.

Brewer testified the couple remained in contact after the breakup. She contacted him in May 2008 to borrow gas cans for a long trip, he said. Brewer said he loaned her the cans on June 3, 2008. He said he never got them back.

Brewer said Arias contacted him again later that month, hysterical. He said she told him her friend had been murdered.

Public defender Kirk Nurmi returned to Brewer's sex life with Arias.

"Did your sex life involve her wearing little boys' underwear, wearing pigtails and schoolgirl outfits, bending her over a desk, ejaculating on her face, calling her a whore, or a slut, or a three-hole wonder?" Nurmi asked.

"No," Brewer replied.

Earlier in the trial, the defense lawyer said Alexander had called Arias a "three-hole wonder" and was sexually aggressive with her.

Earlier Tuesday, Gus Searcy was called to the stand. He was a mentor and friend of Arias when she worked for Pre-Paid Legal. Searcy testified they met in 2007 or 2008 and became friends.

Searcy testified Arias dressed feminine, but conservative, and was never sexually inappropriate.

Testimony resumes Wednesday morning.

I saw the guy on Dr Drew that you're talking about on paragraph one. Then I thought he was that bf who was 22 yrs older that she bought the house with, blah, blah. I was confused. But I read down and I guess he is NOT that bf she bought the house with?

Travis Alexander’s ex-girlfriend Lisa Andrews told police she thought Jodi Arias was responsible for a threatening email and other harassment. Soon after Alexander died, Andrews told police that she experienced some very hostile behavior from someone she believed to be Arias.

Mesa, Arizona, police Det. Esteban Flores was assigned as the lead investigator in the case of Alexander’s death, and his report details Andrews’ experience.

“Travis was at her house late one night and they had received a knock at the door. They went out and didn’t see anyone. Later, they discovered that Travis’ tires had been slashed. They thought it was possibly just a random act until the very next night when he was over again and they received another knock at the door. Travis ran out and found his tires had been slashed again,” wrote Flores in his investigation report.

This disturbing behavior didn’t stop there. It took an even darker turn when Andrews got an anonymous threatening email shortly after Alexander’s tires were slashed. Andrews turned over the email to Flores. This is how that email is transcribed in his report:

“You are a shameful whore. Your Heavenly Father must be deeply ashamed of the whoredoms you’ve committed with that insidious man. If you let him stay in your bed one more time or even sleep under the same roof as him, you will be giving the appearance of evil. You are driving away the Holy Ghost, and you are wasting your time. You are also compromising your salvation and breaking your baptismal covenants. Of all the commandments to break, committing acts of whoredom is one of the most displeasing in the eyes of God. Think about your future husband, and how you disrespect not only yourself, but him, as well as the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Is that what you want for yourself? Your future, your salvation, and your posterity is resting on your choices and actions. You are a daughter of God, and you have been a shameful example. Be thou clean, sin no more. Heavenly Father loves you and wants you to make the right choices. I know you are strong enough to choose the right. Your Father in Heaven is pulling for you. Don’t ignore the promptings you receive, because they are vital to your spiritual well-being.”

Prosecutor Juan Martinez told the court he decided not to call Andrews to the witness stand because he was worried that her testimony about this stalking behavior would be too prejudicial and that if Arias is found guilty, the potentially prejudicial testimony could create an issue that the defense could use to appeal a conviction.


Flores’ interview with Andrews is detailed in his investigative report along with other information the jury may not get to see or hear about. The detective’s report also mentions how he investigated Alexander’s roommates and friends by having their stories checked out, getting their DNA and eliminating them as suspects.

Attorneys for a woman charged with killing her lover are trying to portray the victim as a liar and cheat who repeatedly deceived his girlfriends in the months before his death.

Jodi Arias is accused of shooting, stabbing and slitting the throat of 30-year-old Travis Alexander in 2008, leaving behind a bloody scene authorities have described as among the most gruesome they'd ever seen.

Defense attorneys began their case Tuesday.

Wednesday's first witness was Alexander's ex-girlfriend, who testified that he cheated on her with Arias and lied about being a virgin.
