Agree putting her on the stand is not good but they had no way around it. When she was asked if she killed Travis and she said she did, she had zero emotion. If I killed someone no matter what the reasons were, I'd be a wreck up there..ESPECIALLY if I loved the person and killed in self defense..have been in a violent marriage, I know what to look for and this woman is NOT a victim. No WAY!! It is an Insult to the women that have. This is crystal clear to me. Wouldn't she be re-living what she did and why when asked that question? She would have broken down on the stand. "The simple answer" my azz!

After she testifies and the State has had a field day w/her, they w/put that DV advocate/specialist/shrink on.

Why is the Defense going into all of this. Doesn't this kind of testimony belong after she is judged guilty and before imposing sentence? I think it's called mitigating circumstances. She was sooo abused all her life she had to kill.

From what I am hearing, she HAD to take the stand because she said she killed in self defense (have never seen anyone so robotic saying they killed someone) and she HAD to do so BEFORE any DV shrink gets up there as it would be heresay if the shrink was called first.

Thanks, Slys, but really..this is NOT a stretch. She killed him, literally mauled him to death, lied twice and only told the truth because of her palm print and the pics. She WILL be found guilty but I doubt she w/get the DP.

The Jury was excused for three minutes so Jodi could go to the restroom before re-entering the courtroom and surprising everyone by taking the stand. That was the most exciting part of the whole afternoon!
Everything after that was a snooze fest. The camera pulled away to the packed courtroom and actually caught one of Travis' sisters yawning. (I thought that was pretty funny!) And talk about looks that could kill... one of them held Jodi in a very intense stare the entire time she was testifying. Seriously 2 hours of her talking about herself was excruciating.

As far as her mother taking the stand... why bother I can see Cindi Anthony all over again "Yes it was me doing the chloroform searches and did I mention I was holding a wooden spoon at the time?"

Let's hear from her siblings, did they see Jodi getting smacked with a spoon or anything else for that matter? Did they suffer the same wrath from their mom? Did they lie to their father too and what happened to them?
From my own personal cooking experiences with wooden spoons... the handles break! If Jodi was getting the daylights whipped into her then why wasn't there ever a time when she remember being hit so hard the "Handle Broke" ?

One of the things that I noticed when she was talking about staying out all night and how her father handled that, Jodi tried making things sound worse than they were when she said "He hit me across the face" instead of saying he slapped me. I think her attorney caught this (before it turned into an irreversible statement) When he asked if it was done with an open hand and she answered "Yes"
This was not abuse... this was parents trying whatever they could to get a handle on a rebellious teenager.
I never lied to my Father or stayed out all night without permission, but I could bet you money he would have slapped me into next week if I had.

Jodi is just another perpetrator blaming someone else for the reason they committed a crime.

Re: the wooden spoon. If it were a shorter one, it may have stayed intact. I think her mother MAY have used a wooden spoon on her but so what? Hell, I use to get spanked w/a brush..bristles down on my bare bottom. I was in an abusive marriage and I didn't kill the MF, Although it entered my mind..like most women in an abusive marriage/relationship.

The term "slapped" and "hit" is VERY relevant and a great catch there, Nite.

Have not had the chance to listen to the entire litany of "everyone in my life was abusive to me" but I sure have the jist of it. But from what I HAVE seen, she seemed the most emotional talking about that "wooden spoon". That was the ONLY time I heard any emotion or inflection in her tone/voice. The rest was robotic. STAGED. REHEARSED.

I Also agree..get the siblings up there. I think this trial is going to last quite awhile as the prosecution is going to nit pick everything she said. Can't wait for that.

Sam I was thinking about the Tee Shirt... don't you think if they were sold or given away at Travis' PPL seminars people would be popping up all over the news wearing the same shirt? Travis had many friends and mentored/motivated so many people I feel certain those same people are monitoring the trial as closely as we are. If copies of that shirt are out there we'll hear that from the Prosecution I hope! Wouldn't that be a HOOT!

I agree, Nite, more people should be commenting from PPL if that was the case on the shirts. Another person at that fb site mentioned later she thought those were shirts associated with Travis's blog. They said Travis Alexander's on the front and the name of his blog on the back. So maybe not as many people would have had those. I'm going to check on those cafe express sites where you can get custom shirts made. They often have the slogans available on hats and underwear also.
