Casey Anthony's Letters Prompt Investigation/ Guard Suspended In Casey Pen Pal Investigation/ LETTERS HAVE BEEN RELEASED/Now in type!!

ORLANDO, Fla. --
An Orange County corrections officer face disciplinary action for shuffling secret notes between Casey Anthony and another inmate.
Anthony allegedly wrote 50 letters to another inmate that amounted to more than 250 pages in her own handwriting.
A representative for the Orange County Department of Corrections said the letters were a violation of security protocol. Any corrections officer who facilitated the correspondence could face punishment, as well as Anthony herself.
Prosectors alleged Anthony was somehow able to exchange the letters with Robyn Adam, who is being referred to by Anthony's defense team as a "jailhouse snitch." According to court documents there are 258 pages believed to be handwritten by Anthony.
"The amount of notes isn't very shocking. The question is how tough was it to get the notes back and forth to the other inmate?" defense attorney Richard Hornsby said.
A corrections department representative said he anticipates an internal investigation at the Orange County Jail to determine whether a corrections officer helped the women correspond. Meanwhile, sources said Anthony made several statements in the letters that prosecutors will try to use against her in her upcoming murder trial.
"If she's talking about her case, she's committing a cardinal sin. Don't talk about your case to anybody in jail," Hornsby said.
Adams pleaded guilty to drug charges and was sentenced to 10 years in a federal prison. Besides the letters, court papers indicated investigators have interviewed her twice in the last 30 days.
According to sources, Adams' statements about what Anthony told her will also be useful to the prosecution.

WEll that must have been defense stradegy. Makes me wonder what else little Miss Casey is up to in that jail.
She looks mighy happy for spending almost two years in the clink!
Couldn't hardly contain her giggles in court yesterday. What a waste to society this whole case is.

Who is Robyn Adams
by BJ in OR on Thu Mar 18, 2010 7:49 pm
Who was Casey Anthony sending letters to in jail?
Robyn Adams, the wife of former Altamonte Springs police officer Clay Adams, WKMG-Channel 6’s Tony Pipitone reported tonight. She is serving 10 years in federal prison for helping her husband run a marijuana-growing operation, Pipitone added.
Robyn Adams had been caught passing notes at the Orange County Jail, and she was housed close to Anthony, WKMG reported.
“The state will not yet confirm that she is the inmate who received the 50 some notes and letters that Casey wrote,” Pipitone said.
Anthony had been prolific: She wrote more than 250 pages of letters, according to documents unsealed today. And those statements from the defendant could be used in the murder trial. Anthony is charged with the first-degree murder of her daughter, Caylee.
The state says the correspondence contains information relevant to the case, but not an Anthony confession. The public won’t learn the letters contents for at least 15 days.
Even if you’ve been watching the news for a couple of hours, you’ll find something new in Pipitone’s reports for WKMG. The CBS affiliate starts its weeknight news at 6 o’clock, and Pipitone is the main reason to tune in. Not having to race to do reports for the 4, 5 and 5:30 p.m. newscasts is a definite advantage for him and his co-workers.
WKMG’s Louis Bolden also did the math on the defense’s revelations today about its money.
The defense says it had received $275,000. Of that, $89,000 went to Baez. Defense attorney Andrea Lyon received $22,500 for expenses.
“That means there is still more than $163,000 that has to be accounted for, but Jose Baez isn’t talking,” Bolden said.
Baez told reporters that it was appropriate for Judge Stan Strickland to see the material first. The defense team has to break down how it spent the $163,000 by tomorrow, Bolden added.
What about the fairness of the state picking up Anthony’s legal expenses?
New defense attorney Cheney Mason told reporters, “Ask the state of Florida to tell all of you all how much they have spent so far in prosecuting this case, then talk to me about whether this is fair.”

Altamonte cop, wife charged in drug plot
July 23, 2008
Clay Adams lived two lives: one as an Altamonte Springs cop, the other as a painkiller-addicted, marijuana grow-house operator who was scheming to kill a former supervisor.
That's how authorities described it Tuesday when Adams, 36, and his wife, Robyn, 32, were hauled into federal court in Orlando on drug and weapons charges.
Their arrests Monday night shocked the Altamonte Springs Police Department, where Adams had worked for nine years.

Letters are in her own handwriting," said legal analyst Bill Sheaffer
Investigators have since taken those letters into evidence.
"It's significant because it's not a matter of a jailhouse snitch coming forward saying Casey told me something, these letters are in her own handwriting," said legal analyst Bill Sheaffer.

Oh God! I am getting paranoid in this case. Let us hope this wasn't a set-up by the Defense and in those letters she lied and said it was an "accident".

Casey Anthony latest news: Inmate letters spark launch of jail investigation
On Friday, the jail that houses accused murderer, Casey Anthony, launched an investigation into at least one of its corrections officers for allegedly helping her exchange letters with another inmate.
The Orange County Jail’s police place the blame on the facilities’ guards when such incidences occur, according to WFTV.
In a release, the director of the jail, Allen Moore, wrote:
“Orange County Corrections has started an internal investigation into issues uncovered in an FDLE investigation mentioned in court documents yesterday. The court document indicates that letters or notes were passed between Casey Anthony and at least one other inmate.”
According to WFTV, Casey may not suffer ramifications for the letters, however, jail guard Silva Hernandez may be held accountable. The report indicates the written correspondence between Casey and an inmate took place about a year ago and Hernandez has already been transferred out of the building in which Casey is housed.
An investigation conducted by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement found that Casey became friends with two inmates within Dorm L, where she remains in protective custody. One inmate, Robyn Adams was convicted of drug charges, while the other, Maya Derkovic admittedly choked a 15-year-old girl to death, according to WFTV.
Investigators report they have 50 notes and letters from Casey to Adams and that Adams then gave the correspondence to a third party.
Judge Stan Strickland has ruled the notes and letters can be released to the public, giving the defense two weeks to argue they should remain sealed.

Re: Casey Anthony\'s Letters Prompt Investigation/ Guard Suspended In Casey Pen Pal Investigation/ LETTERS HAVE BEEN RELEASED/Now in type!!
Another person caught in KC's manipulative web (jail guard)...I guess she just couldn't resist that sweet smile or whatever(?) And what a perfect match for a friend-someone who choked a 15-year-old to death with a baby-killer! By the way, wonder how LE got hold of the letters? Who had them, and how did they get to LE? It didn't sound like Robyn Adams was all that eager to talk to LE, so I don't think she turned them over herself(?)

I understand that the letters contain references to food and are rambling - I think I read that at wftv or orlando sentinel and nothing was written about Caylee. I wonder if this is true what is significant in them. I just cannot imagine Casey writing anything incriminating down - she is not dumb.

Re: Casey Anthony\'s Letters Prompt Investigation/ Guard Suspended In Casey Pen Pal Investigation/ LETTERS HAVE BEEN RELEASED/Now in type!!
This article from the hinky meter is quite important I believe especially regarding the money that the defense was paid for images of Caylee.
June 16th, 2008 is the last day we THINK someone other than Casey saw Caylee alive. And that’s actually only if George Anthony had a rare moment of honesty. But there is no one, including Casey Anthony, who has stated they saw a living Caylee past the date of June 16th, 2008. And no one knew Caylee was missing – which actually equates to dead – until July 15th. That’s the day Cindy and George Anthony discovered the car, that they thought Casey was driving, located in an impound lot in Orlando. That’s the day they breathed in the unforgettable stench of death. That’s the day their hearts stopped beating.
The only reason we’re sitting here 20 months later knowing a child was missing on July 15th, 2008 and ultimately found dead in a swamp area 1/4 mile from her home VERSUS sitting here hearing of the remains of a small child being found and the Orlando authorities trying to figure out WHAT child was missing, is because Cindy Anthony tracked her lying daughter, Casey Anthony, down and allegedly was told that evening that then 2 year old Caylee Marie Anthony had been kidnapped 31 days prior.
Thirty-one days – that’s the ONLY official story Casey Anthony has told law enforcement. On July 15th/16th she repeated it at least twice orally, and once in writing. Thirty-one days prior, she contended, Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez, the alleged babysitter of Caylee Marie, had taken possession of Caylee and then both of them disappeared for eternity. The nanny has never been found. No one, not one single person, other than Casey Anthony, has ever seen the nanny. Nothing told by Casey to law enforcement concerning the nanny checked out to be true. Nothing Casey told about herself to law enforcement turned out to be true.
On July 16th, when Casey Marie Anthony was booked for the first time, law enforcement had not been given one single statement from her as to what happened to Caylee, who had Caylee, where Caylee was last seen, where Casey was and what she was doing when Caylee went missing, that checked out to be true. On that date is the last time Casey Anthony told law enforcement anything concerning the disappearance – which equates to death – of her child, Caylee Marie Anthony.
And then the investigation revealed that those thirty-one days had been spent partying, sleeping with an uncountable number of men, getting tattoos to memorialize her beautiful life, running the club scene and lying to everyone who asked about the whereabouts of Caylee Marie Anthony. She’s at Universal. She’s at the beach. She’s at Busch Gardens. She’s at SeaWorld. She’s..she’s…she’s…having the time of her life.
Casey Anthony never cooperated with law enforcement to develop a composite sketch of Zanny the Nanny. Casey Anthony never cooperated with her own family to get a composite sketch out on Zanny the Nanny. Casey Anthony never cooperated with Tony Padilla, Leonard Padilla, Tracy McLaughlin or Rob Dick in developing a composite sketch for them to use to find Zanny the Nanny. What she did do, however, according to several of these people who were there when she got out of jail on bond for the first time August 21, 2008, was change her story of where the kidnapping took place, and under what circumstances it took place.
There have been sympathizers, or maybe delusional folks, who have practiced the mantra that no one involved in the Anthony family took money for appearances, for pictures, for videos or for interviews. There have been those who have denied there was ever a $200,000 pay out for the snapshots of a life taken. They have denied that any of these folks took those funds for memorabilia of a child still intentionally left rotting in a swamp. Money taken for images of a baby girl left to be torn asunder by animals.
And I assume those same folks will most likely, now that it has been revealed to them that the funds did, in fact, come to CASEY ANTHONY for photographs and videos she sold of her own murdered daughter in August 2008, will respond SO WHAT? She had the right to! They were her pictures! Casey needed to fund her own defense for being charged with….
uhhh, murder? NO! She had not been charged with murder! She was not facing capital murder charges. She was not facing manslaughter. She was only facing charges associated with LYING TO LAW ENFORCEMENT WHO WERE TRYING TO FIND HER DAUGHTER! The only thing she needed to do to get those charges dropped, or significantly reduced, was to cooperate with law enforcement and assist in locating her daughter. IF her story was true.
So why did she need $200,000? Was it to put up for ransom to get the kidnapper to turn Caylee back to her loving mother? Apparently not.
Was it to print flyers of the suspect Zanny the Nanny, or her sister Samantha so that the face of this evil kidnapper could be spread from Miami to Seattle and result in the unquestionable eventual arrest of this baby-stealing woman? Apparently not.
Was it to take out ads in various media to ensure the maximum amount of people could see Caylee’s face and the face of her kidnapper? Apparently not.
Was it to hire private investigators and bring all possible forces together to find the kidnapper and bring Caylee to safety? Apparently not.
200,000 dollars and 31 days – and not one unit of any of it spent on saving Caylee Marie Anthony.
That comes to 200,031 reasons for 12 people to find one woman guilty of capital murder. She has lived her life since June 16th, 2008 as if she knew exactly where Caylee was NOT – and that was NOT where anybody needed to bother spending a second of 31 days for Caylee’s sake, that was NOT where Casey needed to be spending her precious time with authorities to find Caylee, and that was NOT where anybody needed to spend one red cent for Caylee’s sake, because that place was NOT among the living.
So, Casey, surround yourself with some more lawyers, pop open a can of that OCSO brand jalapeno cheese dip and dream – dream of freedom and book deals and movies you probably think you’ll star in yourself. Dream on, sister – because if every pro-bono lawyer in Florida comes to your aide – you’re still facing these odds…1 woman against 200,031 points of guilt.

Yes this article states it clearly, that money that everyone wondered how it was spent - was never to find a live Caylee - it was always about using it for the heavy expense of defending someone who killed their child. Baez brought Casey to that office every day she was out on bail with that heavy backpack to sift through marketable items to sell to the media. Casey
Anthony never tried to help find Caylee I hope that
the prosecution hammers this over and over to the jury.

The TV Guy
Thursday was a major day in the Casey Anthony saga.
There were three headline-making developments. Any one by its own would have been a big story. But three in the same day posed a challenge in reporting. Which was the biggest?
1. Orlando attorney Cheney Mason joined the defense team. “I looked all over for a Perry Mason,” defense attorney Jose Baez said. “The best I could do was a Cheney Mason.” Here’s an interesting wrinkle: Cheney Mason has commented on the case for local TV stations.
2. It was revealed that Anthony had written notes to other inmates at the Orange County Jail. There were 258 pages of notes in all. At least 50 notes went to an inmate who is now in federal prison. The public won’t see the letters for at least several weeks. They evidently don’t contain a confession, but one source told WESH-Channel 2 that the notes are full of rambling comments and frequent references to food. There were few references to Caylee Anthony, Casey’s daughter. Casey is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Caylee.
3. In seeking indigency status for Anthony, her attorneys explained a few sources of their money. Baez said that his client had received $200,000 from Disney-owned ABC to license photos and video of toddler Caylee. Former defense attorney Todd Macaluso had donated $70,000 to the case, and an unidentified donor gave $5,000.
ABC said the money was not tied to an interview, but others in the news media scoffed at that statement. Such a huge amount suggested that ABC hoped to land an interview with Casey Anthony, who has never talked to the media about the case.
What was the most important part of the story? The Sentinel went with the ABC payment, which had funded most of Anthony’s defense.
But what did you think was the most important part of the story? What would you have ranked No. 1 among those three elements?
The ABC revelation set off a discussion about journalistic ethics and checkbook journalism. Why didn’t ABC reveal what it had paid? Or at least acknowledge making a payment when it used the Caylee footage on “20/20″? (When that story aired in December 2008, just 5.8 million viewers tuned in “20/20″ — so the Anthony story wasn’t the blockbuster ABC had expected.)
Even so, ABC affiliate WFTV-Channel 9 did report the $200,000 payment months ago. The Orlando station had done what its network should have.

NO ABC ... NO Disney! Not that they will miss me, but hope enough people who feel the same will make an effort to let the powers that be KNOW how disgusting this stunt is.
Gee, I wonder if the $200,000.00 was given to Casey because she provided publicity by saying she worked at Disney.

Over at Blink they are intimating that these letters contain damaging information on Cindy and George
written by Casey to her jail-mate pen pal. Oh, dear
has she thrown them under the bus? She was furious at Cindy Im sure for getting her into this mess and she must have, thru Baez, heard what her father said in his interview as well. 15 days from the hearing puts the release somewhere in the first week of April.
However, maybe the defense wants these letters released? Only time will tell!

Guard Suspended In Casey Pen Pal Investigation

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- WFTV found out the jail guard who allegedly helped Casey Anthony write an inmate pen pal in jail is now on suspension. Jail guard Silvia Hernandez is still being paid while the investigation plays out.
Hernandez was commended in one of her reviews for having a pleasant demeanor and keeping control of her dorm, which was Casey's dorm, at the female detention center, but she's now under investigation for being a little too pleasant to Casey and her two friends there.
'SECRET' LETTERS: Judge Unseals Motion | Read Motion
Accused murderer Casey Anthony wrote 50 letters, 258 pages, to inmate drug dealer Robyn Adams at the Orange County jail. Those letters, still being kept secret from the public, have added to the damning evidence against Casey in the murder of her daughter Caylee Anthony.
Also, there's another problem. Both Casey and Robyn were in protective custody at the jail when the letters were exchanged, which means they were not to have any contact or communication with one another. Hernandez is now under suspension with pay while the jail investigates whether she passed the letters from Casey to Robyn, as Robyn told investigators.
Hernandez was assigned to Dorm L as soon as she was hired and worked there for about a year before being transferred. Hernandez worked for the state prison system in Lake County before going to work at the jail. She's been disciplined for absences and tardiness, and once for not reporting her use of force to break up a fight between two inmates. She has also been praised for her writing skills and documentation, but she apparently did not document that she helped Casey write letters to Robyn.
The jail investigation could take another two weeks. Casey remains in Dorm L, but Robyn is now in federal prison.
The defense has until Friday to decide whether to ask the judge to seal Casey's letters from the public. The judge has already said he's not inclined to seal them.
WFTV was told the letters hold relevant and damning information about Casey and the murder case against her.

Thanks wrap. Everyday since this news broke I have been watching for the name of the guard that befriended KC. Anyone wanting to be her friend makes me physically ill. Or did that guard do us and Caylee a favor?

She possibly did us a favor but not herself.
Re: Casey Anthony\'s Letters Prompt Investigation/ Guard Suspended In Casey Pen Pal Investigation/ LETTERS HAVE BEEN RELEASED/Now in type!!
What if Hernandez tells her superiors that she was allowing the communications to happen because she had a bigger agenda in mind? Wonder if she was reading the letters before she passed them along? If she was reading them and information was exchanged that would effect the case one way or the other she should be fired. Protecting herself and her own actions instead of doing the right thing.

So, she gets fired and writes a book about her time as a guard tending to Casey, transferring the letters and what the content was.
In her mind, who needs that lousy job??

Lisette, this is from the NG transcripts where I first hear about the letters...
NATISHA LANCE, NANCY GRACE PRODUCER: You`re absolutely right, Nancy. That is what this unsealed -- now unsealed information is. What we`re seeing, two inmates, one of the inmates went to the Orange County sheriff`s office, said that she had communication with Casey Anthony and was aware of this other inmate also having communication with Casey Anthony. The second inmate was questioned. She said, reluctantly, that she has had communication with Casey Anthony. They developed a friendship. Fifty letters Casey Anthony has corresponded with this woman...

Thanks, laga...I guess that third person was the one that strangled a 15-year-old while others held her down...Derkovic, or something like that..I remember now about her. I guess that after she reported this, LE convinced Robyn Adams to turn over the letters.

So is there any official word yet on these..are they merely relevant, or actually damning? If they're damning i cant see how they DONT contain a confession of some sort...its entirely possible i guess though she didnt confess about herself, but instead tried to 'confess' about her 'parents'..

I just had a thought about the letters...Maybe the defense wants them to be released because they cast KC in a less than favorable light, and, later, they can use this as an argument that she can't get a fair trial...Maybe for a change of venue or for appeal...

Hal Boedeker - The TV Guy - Jail letters could be made public Tuesday
The public will soon see Casey Anthony’s letters to another inmate at the Orange County Jail.
“Investigative sources called the letters significant, but that’s not what Casey’s defense team told Channel 9’s Jeff Deal,” WFTV-Channel 9 anchor Martie Salt said.
Deal explained: “The time period to try to stop the release of those letters has passed, and so now Casey Anthony’s attorney told me today there was nothing incriminating in those letters, nothing that could link Casey to Caylee’s remains.”
Casey Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter.
“Jail letters could be released tomorrow,” WKMG-Channel 6 said tonight. The release could come tomorrow afternoon, WKMG anchor Jacqueline London added.
“Jose Baez tells me he will not object to the release of letters Casey wrote to another inmate in jail,” WESH-Channel 2’s Amanda Ober reported. “We may get a look at them as soon as tomorrow.”

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Today we're waiting to get some jailhouse letters that Casey Anthony wrote to other inmates.
Anthony wrote roughly 50 letters to another inmate in the Orange County jail. Her defense isn't fighting to keep the letters from becoming public.
“We're not concerned with anything in there. There's no admissions," said Anthony's attorney, Jose Baez.
But sources say there are harsh words.
Sources tell FOX 35 that Anthony’s parents might not want to look at the letters. Apparently their daughter isn't very kind to them.
“If we move to keep them private, you guys are going to speculate all over them about what's in there," said Baez.
Anthony remains in protective custody in a solitary cell. She’s only let out for minimal amounts of time and, according to jail policy, is not supposed to have communication with other inmates.
“You’ll find if you look at them in context there're of a person locked up 23 hours a day. We have nothing to hide with those letters," said Baez.
Anthony was in court yesterday for a hearing over documents related to the search for Caylee Marie.
Judge Stan Strickland denied a request from Anthony's defense regarding access to records for thousands of Texas Equusearch volunteers. Texas Equusearch is the search and rescue group that hunted around the same spot where Caylee's body was eventually discovered.
"It's critical to the defense to be able to get a hold of these documents," said Baez.
The defense complained that it was never given information about Joe Jordon, the Texas Equusearch volunteer who wrote to investigators after Caylee's remains were found. Jordan noted that he believed Caylee's body was relocated to Suburban Drive after September 1, 2008.
"Here you have someone who was a team leader and who has two cadaver dogs at the location where Caylee's remains were found and he sent an email to the detectives two days after her remains w3re found, and we never got this email," said Baez.
Texas Equusearch Attorney Mark NeJame said, had the defense taken the time to read through pages of documents at his office, which they had access to for months, they would have known about Jordon and his communication with detectives.
"If they've got time to do TV interviews and drive to TV stations, then I think they have the time to drive to my office and look at those documents," said NeJame.
New evidence was released in the case two weeks ago

It may be the last straw for George, and he may desert her, but I don't know if anything will deter Cindy...I think her guilt makes her obsessive about her defense of KC...If not guilt about the actual cover-up, then about what she could have done and didn't do to prevent this from happening...or about the fight and ultimatum she might have given KC on June 15th.

Lindamarie, YOU wouldn't have supported her from July 15th on. Well, to be honest, YOU would not have been in that position because your daughter would not have gotten away with all the shit kc did and therefore she would not have expected to get away with murder or any kind of mistreatment of her own child. In other words, you're no cindy!
I don't think the letters will be as important or interesting as expected. I think it will be just more whinning and more "what about me, no one listens to me", blah, blah.

laga, I tend to agree about the letters...I don't think the defense would be so unconcerned about their release if there was anything that important in them...And Bozo doesn't really care if GA and CA are bashed because they don't like each other anyway...He probably is smiling inside if his precious KC disses them...BUT I do want to read them to get an insight into her state of mind and what she thinks is so bad about her parents...The prosecution probably thinks it helps their case in that it gives additional reason for her to kill Caylee instead of just giving her parents custody.

News 13 has learned the letters have explicit descriptions of her family life and allegations that may surprise many people.
We’re told some of the letters are about her parents, George and Cindy Anthony, and contain disturbing details of Anthony’s family life.
There are no admissions to guilt.
Anthony’s lead attorney Jose Baez said "they are letters of a person who is locked up 23 hours a day."

Hmmm...interesting. So that's why Baez isn't fighting the release of these letters. They are going to paint G and C in an unflattering light. First of all, KC has proven to all that we can't believe a thing that comes out of her mouth. Second of all, could these letters have been written on purpose in order to provide reasonable doubt? We will never know. And lastly, no matter how hard her home life was...why would she murder an innocent child...her daughter? So no matter what is revealed today... ...is all I have to say.

Of course, we must remember that these are the writings of a pathological liar and that everything should be taken "with a grain of salt." If she does lie about her family, maybe they will finally see her for what she is.. IF THEY ARE LIES, they should publicly challenge them, and acknowledge that their daughter has severe problems with being truthful...I don't see it happening, but they should "wash their hands of her" and get on with whatever they can make of the rest of their lives.
