I think they enjoy lots of fantasy type games, dressing up, etc. Their family reminds me of folks you run into at Renaissance fairs. Not really anything wrong with that as long as you keep your fantasy world separate from your real world.
It does seem as if the kids were allowed to wander the neighborhood, at least according to reports from various neighbors.

Today in Saginaw. Two houses down from where Alanna lived SPD swat team entered the home of a 17 year old boy. Could this be that child's killer.

Police exchanged gunfire Tuesday morning with a murder suspect living two doors down from the home of 6-year-old Alanna Gallagher.
Sources told FOX 4 the plainclothes task force officers were attempting to serve an arrest warrant in the 600 block of Babbling Brook Drive when three shots were fired. The 17-year-old suspect and an officer were hurt.
MedStar officials said the officer's injuries do not appear to be life threatening. The suspect's condition is unknown.
Gallagher was found dead on July 1. Several children found her body on Roundrock Drive and Cindy Lane. Witnesses said it was wrapped in a tarp, her legs and feet were bound and she had a plastic bag over her head. She was wearing only purple underwear.
The girl lived less than two miles from where her body was found, with her mother and two men who neighbors said were her fathers. Federal investigators searched their home and vehicles, but said they were not suspects.
"I know the odds are high it's a family member in this sort of situation, anyone that knows our family knows better," said Miles McDaniel, her biological father. "I want to find out who did this, I want justice and I hope that they can be found."
The family was the target of another crime on Friday. Firefighters were called their home because someone set a vehicle and a memorial in the little girl's honor on fire.
Police have not yet released the name of the suspect, but sources said they made the connection with the help of DNA evidence.

An officer has been shot while serving an arrest warrant for a teen suspected of the murder of Alanna Gallagher.
Law enforcement sources tell NBC 5 police went to the home of Tyler Holder, a teenager who lives a few houses down from Alanna Gallagher.
An officer was serving an arrest warrant to arrest Holder after DNA evidence came back linking him to her murder. The officer was also serving a search warrant as well.
Law enforcement sources say Holder came to the front door with a gun in his waistband, pulled it out, and opened fire at the officer.
Sources say the officer was shot in the leg and is conscious and talking, taken to JPS.
Holder was shot in the head and his condition unknown.
Gallagher body's was found naked and wrapped in a tarp on a residential street not far from her family’s home in the North Texas community on July 1, 2013.
The shooting scene is in the 600 block of Babbling Brook Dr. in Saginaw, which is the same block where the Gallagher home is located.
Damon Ing with the Saginaw Police Department said an officer is down in a residence where they were serving a warrant involved in the investigation of Alanna Gallagher's murder.
Ing could not immediately confirm reports of a second person being injured, however NBC 5's reporter on the scene saw a second person being transported as well.
Police, fire, and emergency medical personnel are currently on the scene. FBI and SWAT units have also been reported.
"Worst Month of My Life"
On Friday, someone set fire to the Gallagher's family car and a small memorial to the 6-year-old, which were both located outside the home.
"It has been the worst month of my life," Gallagher's mother, Laura, told reporters fewer than 12 hours after her home nearly caught fire.
"It's kind of hard to say what people's intent was in this situation," Saginaw police spokesman Officer Damon Ing said. "[It's] just very disheartening that someone would do this to the family."
Police towed the burned sedan away for further investigation, and investigators were seen canvassing the neighborhood on Friday afternoon regarding the arson.
Before the fire, investigators worried that tips into the young girl's death were dwindling. Digital billboards were being used by the FBI to gather as much information as possible.
Bright Little Girl Remembered
When the six-year-old was laid to rest, a full church of family, friends and fellow parishioners, a community mourned and reflected on Gallagher's life.
"She was very outgoing, intelligent little girl," said Van Westen, a church member.
Gallagher was said to have memorized hymns and songs by heart before she could even read.
All three of her parents spoke about their daughter, saying she loved everyone and brought them endless joy.
Karl Gallagher said she loved bedtime stories and particularly liked to ask him about stories from his youth. The night before she died, she asked him to tell him a story from when he was 16 years old, he said.
He did and, when she asked for more, he told her the story of when he was 18 would have to come on another night. He said he told her that story on Wednesday night during the viewing at the church.
Miles McDaniel, Gallagher’s biological father, also spoke. He said that she knew more people and had more friends than the rest of the family combined. He appeared to cut his remarks short as he was overcome with emotion.
Alanna Gallagher's mother, Laura, also spoke. She said her daughter told her that she had selected her to be her mother before she was born or in her mother's stomach. Laura Gallagher turned to her daughter's casket and said "" for selecting her.
Laura Gallagher ended her remarks by singing her daughter's song, her family's version of "You Are My Sunshine," for her for one last time. All of her children have specific songs that are sung to them with lyrics changed for the family.
Those who knew Alanna Gallagher from church are quite shaken with what happened to her.
"She was just a sweet little girl," Westen said. "Something like that should not have happened."
But, as was said throughout the service, she's now in a better place.
"We're confident that Alanna has joined the great cloud of witnesses," Heinze said.

I hope they don't kill the kid before they get a confession out of him, although if his DNA matched, maybe that's enough.

Alanna Gallagher case: Officer shot delivering arrest warrant to 17-year-old suspect – report Suspect Tyler Holder reportedly took a bullet to the head during the shootout Tuesday morning. Little Alanna was found murdered on the side of a Texas road.

The Justice for Alanna Gallagher movement has grown faster than organizer Rachel Monk could have imagined.
JUSTICE FOR ALANNA GALLAGHER VIA FACEBOOK
Gunfire rang out Tuesday on the street where slain 6-year-old Alanna Gallagher lived. The little girl was found tied up, half naked with a plastic bag over her head under a tarp in the street July 1.
One officer was shot in the leg while serving an arrest warrant to Tyler Holder, 17, for the little girl's death earlier this month, authorities said.
The Saginaw Wolverines little league team also sported purple ribbons for the little girl.
Local resident Rachel Monk, who runs Justice for Alanna Gallagher, told the Daily News that she met the suspect before.
"I am in complete shock, and sick to my stomach," she said.
The officer was conscious and his wounds were not life threatening.
"We ask that everyone has prayers for the officer at this time," Officer Damon Ing said on scene.
People have been wearing purple because it was Alanna's favorite color.
Holder’s condition is unknown.
The shooting occurred at Holder's house two doors from the Gallagher family's home on the 600 block of Babbling Brook Drive in Saginaw, Texas.
Saginaw residents show their support for Alanna Gallagher by putting up purple ribbons.
Yellow crime tape blocked off the area as hordes of police officers rushed to the scene. Neighbors stepped outside their homes to the sound of helicopters hovering overhead.
Saginaw police released photos of two black cars that were in the area Alanna Gallagher’s body was found on July 1.
Monk said that the Saginaw Police Department and the FBI have been working around the clock past few weeks to capture Alanna's murderer.
"Do not give up hope. Justice is coming," she said.
Last Friday, someone set fire to the Gallagher family's car and a makeshift memorial of teddy bears, balloons and flowers for the little girl.
The same day police asked for help identifying the owners of two black cars that were spotted near the scene. Investigators say the drivers may be witnesses.
Anyone with information that could help Saginaw police with this case is encouraged to call 682-888-3684 or 682-888-3682.

Shot in the head... this kid is going to die, or will live and not remember what he did to her.
Very sad to know her parents won't ever get to know what really happened or why.
Certainly glad to know DNA linked him to her murder.
Wonder who's gun he had?
I hope the officer will be alright.

This kid looks stoned in every picture I've seen of him.
Here's the original video from when they got the bag of evidence from Tyler's house the first time they were there. It shows him out by his car. Looks as if that belt could have fit him also.

I think we had that kid's FB in the beginning for some reason, I think it's up thread as I remember his pictures (who could forget those?).
I really feel for Alanna's parents, all three. They have been through so much and because of their lifestyle they have had to endure so many accusations and the fire on their vehicle.
I hope that kid lives so LE can get info out of him. So sorry that cop is in critical condition, hope he will be OK!
All MOO.

I figure his FB w/be taken down by LE..Yea, we do have it posted early on.
The cop was shot in the groin. He's going to be OK from what I am reading..no report as of this writing on Holder.
Agree about the parents. Although would have to admit it would be easy to Assume they were involved DUE to their strange (for lack of a better word) lifestyle.

You mean their three way marriage (forgot the name)? It's strange, very strange but to assume they murdered their child based on their unconventional marriage, I do not see the point.Wrapitup wrote:

Maybe I do not understand this correctly.
Why should Alanna's family have been 'maligned'? I know I got real confused on this thread the last couple of days, maybe I missed something. If they were 'maligned' b/c of their unconventional marriage, then no I do not understand. Don't get me wrong, I'd never be in a marriage like that but I am not going to judge just b/c of that. So what have I missed?????

I just went to that FB page Nama posted. Family and friends feel the Gallagher's were 'maligned' for their chosen lifestyle and apparently that morphed into thinking they harmed Allana. That's how I'm reading it anyway.
So, Holder is still alive..they haven't said if surgery was performed or anything.
Interesting tweets for sure, Nama! Would love to see that search warrant!

LOL, Nite! Yeah, I'm thinking not. Seems egotistical to me, like putting up a fb page saying "I told you so!" I can understand why people thought the parents were involved, we've certainly had enough cases with parents killing their own children. And statistics show it's usually family involved. Now I suppose everyone will start blaming Tyler's mom.

I went back and read all the comments. OK..the parents had leg restraints in their home and played weird eerie video games. I can see why some might suspect them. Also, they didn't report Allahna missing for 2 hours.
Just saying we've seen cases w/much less weirdness going on in the home and it's the parents that killed their child. Maybe we've become hardened to child killings since little Caylee was murdered. Who knows? All I am saying is that I can see where many suspected them. Is it right? NO. But, it seems to be the way of the world w/all of the child murderers.
On another note, I hope that freak lives and is coherent enough to stand trial. All is MOO.

I am on the fence w/their FB page. I cannot imagine being accused all over the web of killing someone. OTOH, I cannot imagine living that type of lifestyle that I mentioned in my above post. Does possessing leg restraints, being married to two men and playing eerie video games make them killers? Not necessarily but FGS, it sure made them look suspicious.samgoodwin wrote:NiteSpinR wrote:Nama wrote:Community

Would love to know: Did The Gallagher's know Holder or his family? Heck, it was only 2 houses down, correct? Ya, I would be more apt to question the parental guidance of Holder's parents. How can they not know what their son was up to w/his FB, the (apparent) 24/7 pot smoking and whiskey chugging, the fact that he had access to a firearm. I think he KNEW he would be caught and played everyone. Again, all is MOO.

I am absolutely Sickened by the above!!! ALSO, it took them from 2:30 PM till 9:18PM to report her missing????????????????????????

Very sickening.
The police should have very publicly cleared the parents. Announcing a week after Alanna was found that they were not prime suspects isn't clearing them. LE used those exact words. This family was identified to have broken several "norms" of our society. It was possible that they broke other "norms" since they saw nothing dangerous, creepy, or amoral about searching for more sex partners on the Internet to participate in sex with their family.
I'm very sad that this family lost their precious daughter, but I dont' feel guilty for thinking they could have been responsible. I wouldn't let my grandchildren play at their home.

Teen linked to Saginaw girl’s death through DNA evidence

SAGINAW — A 17-year-old neighbor was linked to the sexual assault and slaying of 6-year-old Alanna Gallagher through DNA evidence found on her body and on the buckle of a belt that had been wrapped around a tarp concealing her body, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
Officers were in the process of arresting Tyler Holder on the capital murder warrant Tuesday morning when officials say the teen drew a weapon and gunshots were exchanged, ending with the suspect and an Arlington police detective being shot.
Holder was shot in the head and transported to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. His condition was not known.
The detective, identified Tuesday afternoon as Charles Lodatto, underwent surgery at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth and was listed in serious condition Tuesday afternoon. Dr. William Witham said that a bullet tore through Lodatto’s femoral artery and is lodged in his hip.
Witham said that Lodatto could have bled out in minutes had someone not applied a tourniquet.
“He has a difficult road ahead of him, but we're very, very optimistic about his condition,” Arlington Police Chief Will Johnson said during a news conference at the hospital. “His family is with him.”
Lodatto, who was serving on a task force, was among the more than five officers who were serving a search and arrest warrant for Holder at his home at 649 Babbling Brook Drive. The residence is just two houses down from where Alanna had lived with her parents, Karl and Laura Gallagher and Miles McDaniel.
Katherine Chaumont, an FBI spokeswoman, said officers had knocked on the suspect’s door about 9 a.m. and engaged the suspect. She said an altercation erupted, the suspect pulled out a gun, and an exchange of gunfire occurred.
Holder was alone when the shooting happened.
According to the affidavit, investigators suspect that Holder anally raped and suffocated Alanna.
When her partially nude body was found on a residential street less than mile from her house on July 1, Alanna had four plastic Walmart grocery sacks over head, secured with red duct tape. The girl’s wrists and ankles were also bound with red duct tape, the affidavit states.
The girl’s body had then been placed into a black plastic trash bag before being wrapped in a silver tarp that was secured with a man’s belt.
The girl’s mother, Laura Gallagher, had flagged down a Saginaw officer on July 1, reporting that her daughter had left home about 2:30 p.m. that day to play with neighbors and had not been seen since.
Holder lived at his residence with his mother, Kimberly Holder. She referred questions to her attorneys and said that she does not know the condition of her son.
“I don’t know. They won’t give me information,” Kimberly Holder told the Star-Telegram. “I’ve been asked to leave the hospital. I’m so unhappy right now.”
A suspect emerges
Holder, according to the warrant, was first questioned by police July 2.
The affidavit notes that officers had seen the teen pacing up and down the sidewalk during their initial canvas of the neighborhood. Neighbors told police that Holder was a “troublemaker” who had been involved in criminal mischief in the neighborhood.
Holder had told some neighbors that Alanna’s body had been found even before such information had been revealed, the affidavit states.
During the interview with investigators, Holder told police that he had slept in on the day of Alanna’s disappearance and slaying until about 2 p.m., then woke up and watched television. He couldn’t recall what he had watched, the affidavit states.
Holder said he also went that day to apply for a job since he had recently lost his job at Sonic. He said that he had not had contact with Alanna and that she had never been in his house.
But, according to the affidavit, video seized by police showed Holder’s car never left his residence that day.
Another neighbor told police that she had talked to Holder while searching for the missing girl and that he had told her he had been fishing all day.
On July 5, Holder agreed to give a voluntary sample of his DNA to investigators.
On July 20, comparison tests linked him to DNA recovered from the girl’s anus and a belt buckle that had been wrapped around the tarp, the affidavit states.
Other evidence also pointed to Holder’s involvement, the affidavit states.
Trash bags seized July 22 from outside the teen’s house — the same type that Alanna’s body had been placed in — contained red duct tape. A silver tarp a neighbor had reported used to cover a pile of wood in the backyard of Holder’s home was now missing. A toilet paper roll that had been found with Alanna’s body was sold by Costco, where the suspect’s mother shops, according to the affidavit.
‘He just seemed off’
Linda McDaniel, Alanna’s grandmother, said that family members had not known that investigators suspected the teen neighbor.
“Nobody was aware of anything and we didn’t even know anything was going on until after it had already happened,” McDaniel said.
McDaniel said the arrest brings her some hope that the family will finally get answers.
Richard Spencer, who was a classmate of Holder at Boswell High School, said he avoided him.
“He wasn't intimidating or anything like that, he just seemed off,” Spencer said. “I just decided to stay away from him.”
A spokeswoman with the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw school district said Holder last attended school in the district in 2010.
Asked whether her son, Miles McDaniel, or the Gallaghers were acquainted with Holder, McDaniel said, “I didn’t get the impression that they know him.”
McDaniel said her granddaughter had been taught about “stranger danger” but it would not surprise her if the bubbly, outgoing girl did not consider a neighborhood teen a threat.
“I’m afraid that maybe she equated strangers with somebody she didn’t know that approached her rather than somebody she knew by sight,” McDaniel said. “She has two older siblings so she knew a lot of the families and the kids in the neighborhood. It was a pretty relaxed neighborhood that they felt safe in.”
‘He had his vices’
A neighbor said Holder lived at the residence with his single mother.
“He’s a knucklehead but you know, he’s 16 or 17, so is he capable of doing something like this? I really wish not,” said the neighbor, who asked not to be identified for fear of retaliation.
The neighbor said the teen stood out in the neighborhood.
“He’s rough around the edges, so of course all our middle-income, regular folks are like, ‘That kid needs to cut his hair and straighten his act up,’” the neighbor said.
The neighbor said he’s had several conversations with the teen since he was a young child.
“I really thought that maybe he was kind of straightening up a tad bit,” the neighbor said. “He had his vices.”
The neighbor said that although he knew investigators had talked to Holder shortly after Alanna’s slaying, he thought little of it because they had talked to all of the neighbors extensively.
The neighbor said there were times when he would see the teen out riding his bike every evening.
“I would be like, ‘How’s everything going?’ I know he had a little part-time job this summer,” the neighbor said.
But since Alanna’s death, the neighbor said he had only seen Holder once.
“I had not seen him out and about in three weeks,” the neighbor said.
He said that he had never witnessed Holder interacting with Alanna, but that he had likely talked to her because the girl was very visible in the neighborhood, often going into neighbors’ garages to play with toys.
“Tyler’s garage was open like a lot of peoples’ so, had he ever talked to her? I’m sure he’s talked to her because she had talked to everybody,” the neighbor said. “But I had never seen him carrying her around or really interacting with her.”
Numerous agencies involved
Alanna’s slaying is being investigated by Saginaw police, FBI agents, Texas Rangers and other law enforcement agencies. Members of the Saginaw police department, the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force, and the North Texas Major Case Investigative Team were present during the execution of Tuesday’s warrant.
Tuesday’s shooting comes just days after a fire was set on a car in the Gallaghers’ driveway. No one was injured in the fire, which is being investigated as arson.
McDaniel said that while she was angered by some people who were quick to assume the parents were involved in Alanna’s death, “the people that knew them and most of the people in their neighborhood were real supportive of them.”
“Most of the people that were making the accusations and assumptions didn’t know them,” McDaniel said.

This.. "He said that he had never witnessed Holder interacting with Alanna, but that he had likely talked to her because the girl was very visible in the neighborhood, often going into neighbors’ garages to play with toys.
“Tyler’s garage was open like a lot of peoples’ so, had he ever talked to her? I’m sure he’s talked to her because she had talked to everybody,” the neighbor said." ...it's actually amazing nothing happened to her sooner if she was just wandering into neighbor's garages.
So now it's 2:30 pm she went out to play instead of 4 pm, and the family never even started looking for her until 6 PM? And never reported her missing until after 9 PM. It just seems so lax to me. MOO
What a horrible thing for Alanna to go through. I almost hope he had suffocated her before he raped her. She must have been terrified.

As far as the 'parents' (all three of them) breaking norms of our society, as long as it was between consenting adults and that NO children were involved I cannot and would not judge them capable of murdering that poor little girl. Personally I do NOT understand their lifestyle and sure don't understand anyone searching for sex partners on the Internet regardless of their sexual reasons, it's too dangerous. Do we know that these adults were participating in sex with their family? Family to me means all members, so I want to clarify what I am asking, did they practice this in front of or with the kids?PeterfromTexas wrote:Very sickening.

At the very least it does not sound like this little girl (or probably her siblings) were watched very well by the parents. I cannot imagine my six year old going out to play in the neighborhood at all without an adult. If he/she was going to a friend's home, I cannot imagine allowing her to go there on her own, I would certainly be walking her down there and back and would have to know the parents. From 2 pm until 9 pm (whatever time the parents reported her missing) is an inconceivable amount of time for a little one not to be at home.

OMG I so agree! I would be interested in what his Mother has to say too. As far as the garden hose, I'm not even going there.Wrapitup wrote:I went back and read all the comments. I looked up that game on wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_of_Warcraft) and I sure could be wrong but it doesn't sound a whole lot different than the violent games that people play these days (am not condoning it nor would I be playing it and the kids absolutely should not be IMO). That little girl was gone way more than two hours Wrap, more like six - eight and I do judge the parents for that.

The dating site where the adult members were searching for more sex partners showed the mom's post in which she described how any new partners would have to accept the family (specifically her husbands). It didn't state that illegal activities with children were occurring in their home.
I'm going to comment on the grandma's statement. It may pizz people off.
The grandma mentioned that her granddaughter had been taught stranger danger, but may have equated stranger danger with unfamiliarity. It was found that the parents were looking for more adult sex partners. From this info, it can be logically assumed that there were adult "strangers" (people unfamiliar to Alanna if she wasn't having sex with them or talking to them on the Internet) in their home. The behavior of the parents didn't reinforce their alleged teachings about stranger danger.

From this info, it can be logically assumed that there were adult "strangers" (people unfamiliar to Alanna if she wasn't having sex with them or talking to them on the Internet) in their home. The behavior of the parents didn't reinforce their alleged teachings about stranger danger.

Letting a nine-year-old child play World of Warcraft live on the Internet with unknown teen and adult players also did not reinforce the concept of stranger danger. (I've lost track of how many female children have been grabbed after they met some evil man on the Internet, but ya'll are aware of those cases.)

There are many problems with letting their 9-year-old play World of Warcraft, but the worst is that their child played it live and online where players interact with each other. (Hi. My name's John. How old are you? Wow. That's cool That's my age too. Where do you live?) The mom posted on one of her sites how very proud she was of her daughter's latest score.

Do you mean that people unfamiliar to Alanna were having sex with her? I'm not sure I'm reading what you said correctly.PeterfromTexas wrote: The grandma mentioned that her granddaughter had been taught stranger danger, but may have equated stranger danger with unfamiliarity.
